The Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid event in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet has ended. It ran from December 20, 2024, at 00:00 UTC through January 5, 2025, at 23:59 UTC, so the event raid is no longer available on that schedule. This guide explains how players accessed it while it was live and what the official notice says about a possible return.
Can you still access the Shiny Rayquaza raid?
No—not through the event window announced for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. The official event notice says Shiny Rayquaza may appear in a future event or become encounterable through another method, but it does not confirm a rerun or give a date. Check the games’ current Poké Portal News and official event notices for any new availability.

How players accessed the event when it was live
- Open the X menu in the game and select Poké Portal.
- Select Mystery Gift, then Check Poké Portal News to download the latest event news. A paid Nintendo Switch Online membership was not required to receive the news.
- Find the event’s five-star Tera Raid Battle in Paldea. The featured Shiny Rayquaza had the Dragon Tera Type.
- Join the raid. Five-star raids unlocked after completing the main story; players who had not finished the story could still join other Trainers’ raids in multiplayer.
Playing online with other Trainers required a paid Nintendo Switch Online membership. That requirement applied to online multiplayer, not to downloading Poké Portal News.

The Pokémon Scarlet/Violet Official News notice states: “The Shiny Rayquaza appearing in this event can be caught only once per save data.” It also says: “Shiny Rayquaza may be featured in future events or become encounterable through other methods.” The second statement describes a possibility, not a confirmed return.
