Yes. Use a mobile browser to redeem a Steam product key; Valve’s documented mobile route is the Steam website, while the Steam Mobile app can help you sign in and approve Steam Guard. Open Steam’s official product-key activation page, sign in to the account that should own the game, enter the key, and confirm the displayed product.
Redeem a Steam key in your mobile browser
- Open the official page. In your phone’s browser, go to https://store.steampowered.com/account/registerkey. Check that the address is on the official steampowered.com domain.
- Sign in to the right account. Use the Steam account that should own the product. Check the account name before proceeding: a successfully registered key is tied to that account and cannot be registered again. Valve documents browser activation as an alternative to using the desktop client (Steam Support: product activation; Steam Support: retail CD keys).
- Complete Steam Guard if asked. Depending on your sign-in setup, enter the newest email or authenticator code, approve the login in the Steam Mobile app, or scan a browser QR code with the app. Valve says authenticator codes change every 30 seconds and incorrect phone time can cause a code to fail (Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator).
- Enter the product key. Type or paste it into the product-code field. Remove accidental spaces and check easily confused characters such as 0/O, 1/I/L, B/8, and G/6.
- Check the product name before submitting. If Steam displays a title or edition you did not expect, stop rather than completing activation.
- Submit and verify. Wait for Steam’s confirmation, then open the Steam app or website and search for the product in Library. Activation adds ownership to the account; it does not install a PC game on your phone.
Can you redeem a key in the Steam Mobile app?
For a product key that adds a game or product to your Steam account, use the mobile browser page above. Valve’s documented mobile guidance covers browser activation, while the Steam Mobile app is useful for account sign-in and Steam Guard approval; the app’s library interface is not the documented redemption route. This avoids relying on app controls that may vary by version.

Check what kind of code you have

Fix common activation problems

If the browser page will not work
First confirm you are still on Steam’s official domain. As practical troubleshooting options, try a private or incognito window, temporarily disable content blockers, allow cookies and JavaScript, switch browsers, or change between Wi-Fi and cellular data. If none works, use the Steam desktop client when available. Never enter a key into a third-party “validator” or “checker” site.

If the game is missing from Library
- Search Library for the exact product title and refresh or reopen the app.
- Check that you are signed in to the account used during activation.
- Look for an activation-success message and check the account’s license or purchase history.
- Confirm whether the key was for downloadable content, a bundle, or another edition rather than the base game.
- If Steam confirmed activation but the product still cannot be found, contact Steam Support with the account and product details, but do not post the full key publicly.
Keep your account and key safe
- Only enter the key on Steam’s official website or in the Steam client. Avoid login links in unsolicited messages, Discord chats, comments, or suspicious seller pages.
- Never send anyone your password, Steam Guard code, or full product key. Valve says Steam Support will not ask for your password or authenticator code (Steam Guard Mobile Authenticator).
- Do not install a “key activator,” “account fixer,” or similar helper.
Use the desktop client as a fallback
If you can access a computer, open the Steam client and choose Games → Activate a Product on Steam…. Valve’s support instructions also show + Add a Game → Activate a Product on Steam…, depending on the interface. Follow the prompts to enter the key (Steam Support: product activation; Steam Support: retail CD keys).

Activation is not mobile installation
Redeeming on a phone adds the product to your Steam account; it does not make a Windows or macOS game run natively on iOS or Android. Installing and playing generally requires a compatible PC or another supported Steam environment. Steam Link or Remote Play can stream from a suitable host PC, but that is separate from key activation, and a Steam PC key does not automatically grant a mobile version.
