Open the cheat console while you are in a game, enter a command, and submit it. PC and Mac use Ctrl + Shift + C; Xbox and PlayStation use all four shoulder buttons. Some commands require cheats to be enabled first, and doing so on console disables achievements for the current save.
Open the cheat console on your platform

Enable cheats when a command requires it
Not every cheat needs this activation step. On PC or Mac, enter testingcheats true in the console and press Enter before entering a command that requires cheats enabled. EA uses this wording in its skill cheat examples.
On Xbox or PlayStation, enter testingcheats on and submit it with A on Xbox or Circle on PlayStation. Then enter the desired command and submit it with the same button. If the game responds differently, follow the prompt shown in your version.

Console achievement warning
EA warns that enabling testingcheats on Xbox or PlayStation disables achievements for the current save. Other saves are not affected. EA distinguishes Build/Buy cheats from cheats requiring testingcheats; Build/Buy cheats do not carry this achievement consequence.
Enter a command and close the console
Once the console is open—and cheats are enabled if the specific command requires it—type the command exactly and submit it using the platform’s key or button. On Xbox or PlayStation, press the same four shoulder buttons used to open the console to close it.

Examples to try
Add Simoleons
EA lists rosebud and kaching as commands that add 1,000 Simoleons, and motherlode as one that adds 50,000 Simoleons. Enter the command in the console and submit it using your platform’s input.
Use Build/Buy commands
bb.moveobjects removes item-placement restrictions, while bb.showhiddenobjects reveals hidden catalog items. EA says these Build/Buy cheats can be entered in Live or Build mode, but you must be in Build mode to use them.
