How to Activate the Portable Hellbomb in Helldivers 2 on PC

To activate the B-100 Portable Hellbomb in Helldivers 2 on PC, press the Use Backpack Function key; the cited item entry lists 5 as the default. A nearby teammate can instead interact with the backpack using the Portable Hellbomb prompt, listed as E by default. Activation starts a 10-second countdown, so move clear as soon as the alarm begins.

Activate it as the wearer

1. Carry the B-100 Portable Hellbomb in your backpack slot.
2. Press the Use Backpack Function binding. The item entry lists 5 as the PC default.
3. As soon as the alarm starts, move away from the Hellbomb. It explodes when the 10-second countdown ends, whether it is still being worn or has been dropped.

The listed key is a default, not a universal requirement. If your controls have been remapped, check the in-game keybinding for Use Backpack Function.

Let a teammate activate it

1. Have a teammate stand close enough to the backpack for the Portable Hellbomb interaction prompt to appear.
2. Use the prompt; the item entry lists E as its PC default.
3. Move clear immediately when the alarm begins. Teammate activation also starts the countdown.

The B-100 is inert while carried until someone activates it. The Ship Management Terminal description reproduced in the item entry says: “A backpack-mounted Hellbomb that can be armed by the wearer or an ally, starting a countdown. Users are recommended to remove the backpack before the countdown reaches zero.”

Portable Hellbomb controls at a glance

These defaults come from the community-maintained Portable Hellbomb item entry. Your in-game bindings take precedence if you have changed them. Arrowhead Game Studios’ official Into the Unjust 4.1.0 patch notes, dated February 3, 2026, document a fix for the B-100 sometimes falling on cave roofs during the Destroy Spore Lung mission; they do not confirm or change the PC activation keys.

What to know before carrying one

The B-100 occupies your backpack slot while carried. The item entry lists it as an unlock on page 3 of the Servants of Freedom Warbond for 110 Medals. Warbond progression and costs can change, so check the current in-game acquisition menu.

The B-100 Portable Hellbomb is a backpack stratagem, not the ordinary mission Hellbomb call-in. For a question phrased as “What is the equivalent button selection on PC?”, the answer is the wearer’s Use Backpack Function binding—or the teammate’s contextual interaction prompt.
