First decide whether you want a leaderboard inside the video or a platform leaderboard beside it in chat. On Twitch, you can enable built-in Top Gifters, Top Cheerers, or Top Clippers leaderboards in chat. To put a custom leaderboard on the video, add a compatible provider’s widget URL to an OBS Browser Source, then position and test it in your scene.
Choose where the leaderboard should appear
A chat leaderboard and an on-video panel are different features. Twitch’s built-in leaderboards appear at the top of the chat window; they are not automatically composited into the stream video. A custom panel is an overlay in your scene, so viewers see it as part of the broadcast.
- Choose Twitch’s built-in feature if you want to recognize the activity Twitch lists—gifting, cheering, or creating top clips—and a chat display is enough.
- Choose a custom overlay if the ranking must appear in the video, or if you need a metric or platform the built-in Twitch options do not cover. Check that the provider supports the platform and activity you want to rank before installing its widget.
Twitch documents the three built-in categories in its Leaderboards Guide. The guide excerpt does not establish current eligibility requirements or every available setting, so check your own dashboard for the options available to your channel.
Enable a Twitch leaderboard in chat
- In Twitch, open Creator Dashboard settings and go to Monetization → Community → Leaderboards. If the menus differ, search settings for Leaderboard Settings.
- Select the activity you want to recognize: Top Gifters, Top Cheerers, or Top Clippers.
- Enable the leaderboard if you want it shown. Its documented location is at the top of the chat window.
This enables Twitch’s chat display; it does not add a panel to your OBS scene or put the ranking inside the video.

Add a custom leaderboard panel in OBS
1. Pick a widget that tracks the right activity
Choose a provider that explicitly supports both the streaming platform and the ranking data you need. For example, Stream Kit’s documentation lists a Leaderboard overlay type, but that does not establish that its widget supports every platform or metric. Confirm the provider’s current scope before relying on it.
2. Configure the widget and copy its URL
Set up the leaderboard with the provider, then copy the widget or overlay URL it supplies. The URL-based workflow is also used in Streamlabs’ guide to adding a widget to compatible broadcast software; its example is a sub-goal widget, not a guarantee that every Streamlabs widget is a leaderboard.

3. Add the URL as a Browser Source
- In OBS, open the scene where the panel should appear.
- Add a Browser Source and enter the provider’s widget URL.
- Set the source dimensions according to the provider’s instructions and the size of your stream canvas.
- Move and resize the source in the preview. Check that it does not cover gameplay, captions, alerts, or other information viewers need to see.
- Preview the scene and confirm the widget loads and displays the intended ranking before going live.
OBS’s Stream Layout Tutorial 2: Alerts & Chat Box explains Browser Sources in the context of overlays. There is no universal leaderboard size in the cited setup guidance: use the widget provider’s recommended dimensions and adjust to your canvas.
4. If you use Streamlabs software
In Streamlabs Desktop, the documented overlay route is to browse and select an overlay, choose its components, and install it into the scene collection. Streamlabs also documents an OBS plugin route and importing a scene collection. The available components depend on the overlay and current catalog; verify that the one you choose actually contains the leaderboard behavior you want. See Streamlabs’ overlay setup guide.

When a supporter label is enough
If you only need to display an individual recent or top supporter value, a Streamlabs Stream Label may be simpler than a full ranked board. Stream Labels can show selected values in Streamlabs Desktop or OBS Studio, but a single label is not necessarily a multi-person leaderboard. Check the label options and choose a true leaderboard widget if you need a ranked list. Streamlabs explains setup in its Stream Labels guide.
Check these details before going live
- Metric: Make sure the ranking is based on the activity you intend—such as gifts, cheers, clips, or another explicitly supported metric.
- Platform: Confirm the widget reads data from the platform where your viewers generate that activity. A widget’s presence in an overlay catalog does not prove support for every streaming platform.
- Placement: Check the panel at the actual scene size and ensure it does not obstruct essential content.
- Display type: Confirm whether the result appears in chat, in the video, or both. Twitch’s native leaderboards described above are chat displays.
- Test: Preview the scene and follow the provider’s instructions for confirming that the widget loads and receives the right data.
Troubleshooting a leaderboard that does not appear
The Twitch leaderboard is missing
Return to Creator Dashboard settings and look under Monetization → Community → Leaderboards, or search for Leaderboard Settings. Confirm that the intended type is selected and enabled. The documented feature is at the top of chat; it will not appear as a video overlay simply because it is enabled.

The OBS Browser Source is blank or wrong
- Check that you pasted the provider’s widget URL into the Browser Source and that you used the URL for the intended leaderboard.
- Recheck the provider’s setup and platform/metric support. An overlay type called “Leaderboard” does not by itself establish which activity it tracks.
- Verify the source dimensions and placement against the provider’s instructions and your canvas, then inspect it in preview.
- If the provider offers a supported Streamlabs Desktop, OBS plugin, or scene-collection route, follow that provider’s current instructions rather than assuming every widget installs the same way.
A supporter label appears, but there is no ranking
That may be expected: a Stream Label can display one selected supporter value without creating a ranked, multi-person board. Switch to a widget that explicitly provides a leaderboard if that is the display you need.

StreamNeo is a separate tool for keeping an uploaded-video YouTube stream running; it does not create a leaderboard panel, and it does not stream from a camera. For a custom panel, use the Twitch or OBS setup above. If you also want an uploaded video or playlist to keep looping on YouTube, StreamNeo’s workflow is: upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live.
