How to Add Multiple Prerecorded Videos to a StreamYard YouTube Broadcast

Add up to 10 local videos to a StreamYard studio through Present > Video file, then trigger each one manually during your YouTube broadcast.

To show several prerecorded videos during a host-run StreamYard broadcast, open the studio and choose Present > Video file. Add up to 10 local MP4 or MOV files, then play each clip manually when you want it on air. The queue is not an autoplay playlist. If you need a video to start automatically at a scheduled time without you entering the studio, use StreamYard’s separate Pre-recorded video broadcast workflow instead.

Add multiple videos in a live StreamYard studio

  1. Prepare the files on the computer running the studio. StreamYard recommends MP4 and MOV for its local video-sharing feature. Shared files are session material rather than saved account media, so keep the originals accessible.
  2. Create or enter a live studio broadcast. Select your YouTube channel as a destination. If it is not connected, add it as a destination before continuing.
  3. Add the first video. In the studio, click Present > Video file and choose a local file. It is added to the stream automatically unless automatic addition is disabled in the studio settings.
  4. Repeat for the other clips. The queue holds up to 10 videos. Add them before or during the broadcast as needed.
  5. Play each clip when ready. Hover over a shared video to play, pause, scrub, adjust its volume, or mute it. You can change the layout and speak over the video. The host must trigger each clip; the queue does not advance or autoplay like a playlist.
  6. Go live and manage the sequence. Start the YouTube broadcast, then play the clips in your intended order. A scheduled studio broadcast creates a scheduled post, but the host still needs to enter the studio and click Go Live at showtime.

Keep a clip queued without putting it on air

Before adding files, go to Settings > General and turn off Automatically add shared screens/videos to stream. Then add the videos and bring each into the broadcast when you are ready.

What the live video queue does—and does not do

  • Queue size: Up to 10 videos can be queued, and each is played manually.
  • File limits: StreamYard’s local studio-sharing instructions state that this feature has no file-size or video-length limit.
  • Session behavior: Shared videos are not saved as account media. Leaving the studio or refreshing removes them, so you must add them again.
  • Audio: StreamYard’s help article says the long-form shared-video feature outputs mono audio, converting stereo audio to a mono track.

Choose the right workflow for your broadcast

Your goal StreamYard workflow What to expect
Show several segments in a hosted live show Studio Present > Video file Queue up to 10 local videos and trigger each manually.
Start one prerecorded video automatically at a chosen time Pre-recorded video broadcast Schedule an uploaded or past video; it starts at the selected time without the host entering the studio.
Play a short recurring intro or outro Video clips or automatic intro/outro feature A separate short-clip feature with different limits and plan availability; it is not the long-form queue.

Schedule a single prerecorded video to start automatically

Use StreamYard’s Pre-recorded video broadcast type when the key requirement is an unattended scheduled start. This differs from adding multiple local clips to a live studio: it schedules one video, and the workflow has plan-specific upload limits.

Limits listed in StreamYard’s help article

Plan Maximum upload size Maximum video length
Core 10 GB 2 hours
Advanced 10 GB 4 hours
Teams 25 GB 8 hours
Business 25 GB 8 hours

The same help article lists a maximum upload bitrate of 10 Mbps for prerecorded broadcasts. These are the limits stated in the official help material accessed October 3, 2026; check StreamYard’s current help center and plan details before scheduling because limits and plan availability can change.

Make the YouTube link available before the start

For a scheduled prerecorded stream, StreamYard says the YouTube link appears at the scheduled announcement-post time, or when the stream goes live if there is no announcement. If viewers need the link sooner, schedule an earlier announcement post.

Common problems and fixes

  • A video appears on air as soon as you add it: Turn off Automatically add shared screens/videos to stream under Settings > General before adding files.
  • The next video does not start automatically: That is expected in the live studio queue. Trigger each queued video manually.
  • The files disappeared after a refresh or after leaving: The local shared-video queue is session-bound. Re-enter the studio and add the files again.
  • A scheduled studio show has not started: Scheduling a studio broadcast does not start it unattended. Enter the studio and click Go Live at broadcast time.
  • A prerecorded upload is rejected or cannot be scheduled: Check the file against the selected plan’s size and duration limits and the 10 Mbps maximum upload bitrate stated for this workflow. StreamYard’s help article also suggests HandBrake as a possible compression option if upload or lag is a problem.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your real goal is to keep prerecorded video running on a YouTube channel around the clock—not to host a live show and manually trigger segments—StreamNeo is a different workflow: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud; it does not stream from a camera.
