To add a new episode to an always-on YouTube stream, publish it as a YouTube video, add it to the show’s podcast playlist in YouTube Studio, and separately add it to the playlist or schedule that feeds your YouTube Live stream. The podcast playlist organizes on-demand episodes; the playout list controls what viewers hear on the live channel. Updating one does not necessarily update the other.
1. Publish the episode as a YouTube video
Prepare and upload the episode as a video to your channel. YouTube describes each podcast episode as a video; an MP3 by itself cannot be added as a YouTube podcast episode. If you already uploaded the episode video, use that existing video in the next step. YouTube Help: Create a podcast in YouTube Studio.
2. Add the episode to the show’s podcast playlist
In YouTube Studio, open the podcast for the show and add the new or existing episode video. YouTube’s podcast guidance calls for a public playlist of full episodes for each show, and recommends adding each new full episode and checking the playlist order. See YouTube’s podcast setup instructions and playlist guidance.
Choose the order that suits the show: oldest-first can make sense for a narrative series meant to be followed from the beginning; newest-first can suit topical episodes where the latest release is most relevant. Confirm the episode is visible in the intended position.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
3. Add the episode to the live stream’s playout list
Your always-on stream is a separate continuous feed sent to YouTube Live by an encoder or cloud playout service. Add or import the episode into that system’s own playlist, queue, or schedule. Do not assume that adding a video to the YouTube podcast playlist inserts it into a separately configured live stream.
The exact controls depend on the service. Find the live channel’s playback list or schedule, import the uploaded video if the service supports that route, and place it where you want it to play. Check the saved list or schedule to confirm that the episode appears in the intended order. If the service offers fallback playback or recovery, configure it according to its instructions so a missing or interrupted item does not leave the feed without planned content.

4. Choose where playback and uptime are handled
Run a local encoder
A local setup plays and encodes the media on a computer that stays powered on and connected to the internet. You control the files and queue directly, but you are responsible for keeping that computer and connection available and recovering the stream if either fails.
Use cloud playout
A cloud playout service holds or imports the media and sends the continuous feed, so a dedicated home computer does not have to remain on. Before choosing one, check how it accepts videos, how you insert and schedule episodes, whether it supports fallback or recovery, how many streams can run at once, how it handles archives, and what its current plan terms allow. Those details vary by provider and can change.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.5. Check stream continuity and archives
After updating the live playout list, verify that the episode is queued and that the stream continues through the intended rotation. YouTube Help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; for longer-running streams, do not count on a single complete archive without confirming current YouTube behavior and how your encoder or service handles it. If complete on-demand archives matter, consider publishing each episode separately or planning restarts, while checking how that affects your live schedule. See YouTube Help on encoder-based live streaming.

Google’s Live Streaming API documentation also describes automatic broadcast start and stop when those options are enabled. That setting concerns broadcast behavior; it does not replace adding the episode to the live playout queue. See YouTube Live Streaming API documentation.
Common problems and fixes
- The episode appears in the podcast but not on the live stream: Add it to the live service’s separate playout list or schedule, then verify its position.
- The episode cannot be added as a podcast: Check that it is uploaded as a YouTube video. An MP3 alone is not a YouTube podcast episode.
- The episode plays at the wrong time or in the wrong order: Check both the podcast playlist order and the live playout schedule; they are separate lists and may use different rotations.
- The live feed stops when a computer or connection fails: With a local encoder, check power, network connectivity, and encoder recovery. With cloud playout, check the service’s fallback and recovery settings and its current plan limits.
- A long live stream does not provide one complete archive: YouTube’s stated automatic archiving applies to streams under 12 hours. Confirm handling for longer streams with YouTube and your chosen playout method; use separate episode uploads or planned restarts if complete archives are important.
