Start by identifying what kind of problem the game is asking you to solve
Void Stranger is officially described as a 2D Sokoban-style puzzle game where every step matters. Its rooms ask you to reason about grid movement and the consequences of individual actions. Steam’s store page presents it as a puzzle-focused game and advises players to rest or ask for help if a puzzle seems impossible.
By contrast, the official End of Abyss descriptions emphasize scanning, exploration, gear, branching paths, and revisiting areas. They support an exploration-first approach, but do not document a particular cryptic puzzle system. PlayStation’s game page and Xbox Wire’s September 30, 2026 launch article are useful for understanding that broader emphasis. Avoid carrying Void Stranger’s grid rules over to End of Abyss without evidence from the game itself.
How to work through a Void Stranger room
Map the board before making a move
First identify walkable tiles, holes, the exit, obstacles, and enemy locations. Some routes involve using the Void Rod to move solid tiles onto reachable holes, according to Thinky Games’ mechanics description. Consider how each move changes the paths available to you; a tile that solves one immediate obstacle may also block a route you will need later.

Include enemy movement in your plan
Thinky Games reports that enemies follow movement patterns and move one tile for each player action. That makes every input a turn for them too. Before stepping, pushing, or using an item, check where enemies will be afterward and whether their new positions affect your route or access to a tile.
Experiment in short, deliberate sequences
Thinky Games reports that Void Stranger has no undo option. Instead of testing a long chain of moves, work out a short sequence and predict both the board state and enemy positions after each action. If you cannot tell what an action will do, pause to inspect the room rather than committing several moves on guesswork.

Take a break before escalating to a solution
The Steam store page’s advice is direct: “If a puzzle seems impossible, get some rest”. It also suggests asking someone for help. A pause can be useful when you have become locked into one interpretation of the room; return and re-map the board before looking up a solution.
How to make progress in End of Abyss without assuming undocumented puzzle rules
Use the exploration tools emphasized in the official descriptions. Scan points of interest, follow branching routes, make use of tools as they become available, and revisit corridors when a new ability may have opened a way forward. These actions are supported by the official PlayStation description and Xbox Wire’s launch coverage.

If an obstacle seems cryptic, first ask whether it is a route-access problem: is there an unexplored branch, a point of interest you have not scanned, or a newly acquired tool that might change where you can go? The official descriptions do not explain specific cryptic puzzle sequences, so they do not support prescribing a more precise solution method for those puzzles.
