The setup is only one part of the job: confirm rights for every recording and visual, protect your stream key, and plan how the broadcast will be monitored and restarted. A playlist by itself does not guarantee an uninterrupted stream.
Before setting up the stream, clear the playlist
Make a list of every recording and other asset you plan to use: songs, album artwork, lyrics, captions, and any background video. Confirm that you have permission for each item in a YouTube livestream, including the relevant territories and uses. A devotional subject or a recording being widely available online does not by itself establish that you can rebroadcast it.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A detected match can replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it, or terminate it. YouTube also advises creators who have licensed third-party material to ask the owner to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist; a license alone may not prevent an interruption. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and resolve permissions with the actual rights holders before going live.
Create and connect a YouTube live stream
- Enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. If this is the channel’s first live stream, YouTube says enabling it may take up to 24 hours, so do not leave activation until the planned launch time. See YouTube’s live-streaming setup guidance.
- Create or schedule the stream. In the Live Control Room, create a stream or schedule it in advance. Keep the stream’s privacy and audience settings appropriate for the channel and intended viewers.
- Choose an encoder. YouTube supports software encoders running on a computer and standalone hardware encoders; its guidance names OBS as one software option. An encoder sends the media to YouTube. The official guidance does not, by itself, provide a tested unattended playlist-loop configuration or guarantee that an encoder will recover after a failure.
- Copy the connection details. In the Live Control Room, copy the stream URL and stream key into the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it, show it onscreen, or share it with people who should not control the broadcast. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Load the media and start sending. Configure the encoder to play your prepared devotional video or playlist, then start streaming from the encoder. Follow the Live Control Room workflow to check the incoming stream and go live.
Make the playlist repeat—and decide how it will recover
Software encoder on a computer
A software encoder such as OBS runs on a computer you maintain. Set up the media source or sources to play the intended material, and verify that playback returns to the beginning when it reaches the end if you need a loop. The precise source and looping controls depend on the media and encoder configuration; YouTube’s help page does not specify an OBS 24/7 playlist recipe. Test the entire sequence—including the transition from the final item back to the first—before relying on it live.

The computer, encoder, media files, power, and internet connection all become part of the broadcast path. A crash, restart, lost connection, or stopped media source can end or interrupt the feed. The reviewed YouTube setup material does not establish a minimum computer specification, failover design, or automatic restart configuration for continuous operation, so size and test a setup against your actual media and workload rather than assuming a particular machine will suffice.
Standalone hardware encoder
YouTube also recognizes standalone hardware encoders. This can avoid running an encoder application on a general-purpose computer, but the sources do not establish that a particular hardware unit will automate a Kannada playlist, recover from dropped connections, or provide monitoring. Confirm those functions in the device documentation before buying or depending on it for unattended use.

RTMP and HLS are not interchangeable settings
YouTube’s HLS instructions are specific to HLS, not a universal recommendation for every broadcast. YouTube says HLS has higher latency than RTMP because it sends video in segments. If you deliberately select HLS, follow its protocol requirements: TS segments of 1–4 seconds and a rolling playlist with no more than five outstanding segments. See YouTube’s HLS ingestion guide. Otherwise, use the protocol and settings supported by your chosen encoder and the stream configuration shown in YouTube Studio; do not apply HLS segment rules to an RTMP setup.
Test the broadcast and understand the archive limit
Before announcing a continuous channel, run a test long enough to confirm that the intended media plays, the playlist loops, the Live Control Room receives the encoder feed, and the stream remains stable through ordinary interruptions you can safely simulate. Check the audio and visuals from the viewer’s perspective, not only from the encoder preview. Keep a person responsible for checking the live broadcast and responding to errors; the official setup guidance does not verify a particular 24/7 monitoring or failover plan.

YouTube says livestreams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not establish an archive plan for a continuous broadcast that runs beyond that duration. If keeping a replay matters, plan separately for recordings and archives rather than assuming that a 24/7 stream will be preserved as one complete video.
Common problems and practical fixes
- The channel cannot go live yet: first-time live activation may take up to 24 hours. Enable it and verify access well before the scheduled start.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: check that the stream URL and current stream key in the encoder match the Live Control Room stream. If the key was reset or exposed, update the encoder with the replacement.
- The stream is interrupted or replaced by a placeholder: check YouTube’s copyright notices and identify the matched material. Confirm that the channel and livestream use are covered; if a licensed item is being detected, ask the rights owner about adding the channel to its Content ID allowlist.
- The playlist stops at the end: check the encoder’s media-source or playlist behavior and test the end-to-start transition. Do not assume that simply adding multiple files creates a repeating playlist.
- The stream stops after a computer or connection problem: inspect the computer, power, encoder, and network, then restart the encoder and confirm the feed in Live Control Room. For genuinely unattended operation, arrange monitoring and recovery rather than treating a successful initial start as proof of continuous reliability.
