Is the GTA 6 release date real?
Check the official GTA VI site and Rockstar Newswire for current date and product announcements. Rockstar also points readers to its Propaganda newsletter for preorder information. Open these channels independently; a date in a screenshot, repost, email, or message is not confirmation.
Release dates, editions, and preorder bonuses can change. Treat a claim as unverified unless Rockstar or the relevant official storefront currently supports it. Rockstar’s support information identifies PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as platforms. Check that a listing matches your console and country before paying. Confirm the seller, edition, and whether the offer is physical or digital; do not rely on a claimed price or bonus unless it appears in a current official listing with the applicable terms.
How to check whether a GTA 6 preorder link is legitimate
- Start with Rockstar. Type the official GTA VI site address yourself or use a known bookmark. Check Rockstar Newswire or its preorder information for the claim.
- Open the storefront independently. Go to PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, or Rockstar Store directly. Do not use an unsolicited link or attachment to reach a login or payment page.
- Compare the listing details. Confirm platform, seller, country availability, edition, and physical-versus-digital format against Rockstar’s current information and the storefront’s own listing.
- Pause if the message creates urgency. Unexpected requests for account credentials, payment details, or immediate action are suspicious. Contact the company using a website or phone number you already know is genuine.
The Federal Trade Commission says email was the top method scammers used to contact people in 2024; that general finding, published in a 2025 consumer alert, is not a statistic about GTA VI scams. Treat unexpected email, texts, and social messages cautiously regardless of whether they mention a game.

Does the physical GTA 6 preorder include a disc?
Rockstar says the physical version is a code in a box for digital download and does not include a disc. If a listing promises a disc, check it against Rockstar’s current product information before buying. Recheck the live listing in case Rockstar updates the format or product details.

What to do if you clicked or shared information
- If you only received the message: Don’t reply, click its links, or open attachments. Report email to the Anti-Phishing Working Group, text messages to SPAM (7726), and phishing to the FTC, following the agency’s phishing guidance.
- If you entered a password: Go directly to the genuine service, change the password, and secure any other accounts that reused it. Follow the FTC’s steps for protecting accounts after a scam.
- If you shared identity or financial information: Use IdentityTheft.gov for recovery guidance and contact the relevant financial institution through its known official channel.
- If you may have downloaded malware: Update your security software and scan the device, then follow the FTC’s additional account-protection steps.
