Chromatic Chalier is an optional Act 2 boss in Sinister Cave. Use Light damage, avoid Dark attacks, and aim to break the boss quickly: guides report that its opening Berserk effect increases its damage by 5% each turn. The route, attack patterns, and rewards are below.
Where to find Chromatic Chalier
Enter Sinister Cave and proceed to the large room. Take the path on the right and follow the wall. When you reach a ramp with a grapple point, continue forward instead of grappling; the boss is ahead at the end of the ground-level branch. This route is separate from the cave’s later grapple paths and optional collectibles. GameFAQs’ location walkthrough and GamesRecon’s boss guide describe the route.

The encounter is optional. The community Expedition 33 Wiki boss list suggests level 38; treat that as a guide recommendation, not a required level.
What to bring and how to approach the fight
- Use Light damage. Chromatic Chalier is weak to Light and resists Dark, so favor Light attacks and avoid relying on Dark-heavy damage.
- Prioritize efficient damage and Break. Guides report that the boss begins with Berserk, which raises its damage by 5% per turn. That reported escalation makes a prolonged fight increasingly risky; build Break and exploit the vulnerable or stunned opening when you create one.
- Choose a party that supports your plan. One guide recommends Verso for Light-based attacks and discusses Burn and Monoco as additional damage or Break options. These are possible approaches, not required party members.
How to defend against its attacks
Guides describe three combo patterns. Watch the animations, learn the sequence, and choose parries, dodges, or jump counters based on the attack. The published guides do not establish frame-accurate timing, so use these descriptions as pattern recognition rather than exact timing instructions.

| Relentless Combo | Six hits | Expect a longer sequence. Focus on reading each hit rather than assuming the first dodge or parry ends the attack. |
| Swiping Combo | Three hits, including a jump-counter opportunity, followed by party-wide and single-target attacks | Look for the jump-counter cue, then stay alert for the follow-up attacks; the sequence can threaten the whole party and an individual target. |
| Punching Combo | Three hits | Track all three strikes and do not treat the opening hit as the end of the combo. |
It is reasonable to start by observing a sequence if you are unsure of its cue, then commit to parries or counters once you can recognize it. Use dodges when you cannot confidently time a defense. Attacking efficiently matters as much as defense here: every additional turn gives the reported Berserk escalation more time to raise the danger.
