Spoilers: This guide covers Count Ymir’s quest, the route to Metyr, and her late-fight attacks. Metyr, Mother of Fingers, is reached through the Finger Ruins of Miyr beneath the Cathedral of Manus Metyr in eastern Scadu Altus. To beat her, use the recovery after her telegraphed slams to attack, get off ground markings before they erupt, and save stamina or mobility for the second phase’s storm-and-laser sequence. Bleed and Frostbite are reported as useful options, but no specific build is required.
How to reach Metyr, Mother of Fingers
Metyr is in the Finger Ruins of Miyr, below the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. The entrance is tied to Count Ymir’s quest; you cannot simply walk into the boss arena before progressing it.

- At the Cathedral of Manus Metyr, speak with Count Ymir and receive his map.
- Follow the map to the Finger Ruins of Rhia, sound the bell there, then return to Ymir and progress his dialogue.
- Take the next map to the Finger Ruins of Dheo, sound that bell, and return to Ymir again.
- After Ymir gives you the third map and leaves the throne, reload the area. Interact with the throne to reveal the way down.
- Follow the path into the Finger Ruins of Miyr and ring the bell at its end to begin the fight. Count Ymir quest and route details.
What works against Metyr
Third-party guides report that Bleed and Frostbite are effective. EIP says Metyr is exceptionally weak to Bleed and that attacks to her stomach deal bonus damage; these are guide-reported findings, not developer-confirmed resistance values. The practical takeaway is to use a buildup option if it already suits your weapon or spells, and take safe openings near her body rather than forcing hits during an attack.
Spirit summons are available, but optional. No single summon or mandatory build is established. Choose between melee or ranged pressure, buildup or another damage plan, and shield defense or mobility according to what lets you avoid the large area attacks while keeping pressure on the boss. A greatshield can support a blocking melee approach; mobility and mid-range spacing can be useful in the second phase. These are options, not guaranteed solutions.

How to handle the first phase
Metyr’s opening-phase attacks include head and body slams, arm or finger strikes, laser blasts and sweeps, ground eruptions, and Fingercreepers pulled from her body. Watch her windups rather than trying to trade hits.
- Head and body slams: Move toward her side or rear as a frontal slam begins. Attack during the recovery, then reset your position instead of staying in front for the next move.
- Arm and finger attacks: Keep enough room to react to their reach. If a strike is directed across the ground, dodge clear and wait for the recovery before punishing.
- Laser blasts and sweeps: Avoid remaining directly in front of her when she starts aiming or winding up. Reposition to the side when you have room.
- Ground eruptions: Look for the marked streaks and move off them before they detonate. Do not commit to a long attack animation over a marked lane.
- Fingercreepers: If they appear, melee players can clear them during a safe gap. Ranged players may continue damaging Metyr, but should keep track of the adds so they do not get surrounded.
How to survive the second phase
EIP places the transition at around 60% health. Metyr rises with a purple orb and sends out an area wave; later attacks include delayed explosive orbs and multi-laser attacks. The storm followed by a laser sweep is the sequence to treat with the most respect.

When the large storm’s windup begins, create distance if possible and keep an escape route open. If you are caught close, a mobility skill or spell, a defensive tool, or a correctly timed dodge through the beam may help. The right response depends on your load, equipment, and timing; there is no guaranteed dodge method established here. Preserve stamina rather than spending it all on attacks or blocks just before the sequence.

What to do if the fight keeps going wrong
- You are taking damage before landing hits: Stay out of the frontal line during windups and focus on punishing the recovery after a slam.
- You are getting caught in eruptions: Prioritize leaving the marked streaks over finishing a combo or cast.
- Fingercreepers are interrupting you: Clear them during a safe opening if you are fighting in melee, or reposition while maintaining awareness if you use ranged attacks.
- The second phase overwhelms you: Keep more distance when the storm begins, conserve stamina, and choose a defensive response you can execute reliably rather than relying on a single purportedly guaranteed dodge.
