To breed a Pokémon with six perfect IVs, pair compatible Pokémon with strong IVs, give one parent a Destiny Knot, hatch eggs, check each offspring’s IVs, and use the best offspring as a parent in the next round. The Knot passes down five IVs from the parents; it does not guarantee that all six offspring stats will be perfect. The exact mechanics depend on the game, so confirm the rules for your title before you start.
What six perfect IVs mean
IVs are individual values for HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed. A six-IV Pokémon has an IV of 31 in every one of those stats. In the Judge feature described in the Generation 8 breeding guide, “Best” means 31 and “No Good” means 0. A 0 IV can be desirable for some builds, such as Pokémon intended for Speed-sensitive Trick Room strategies, so six 31s are not always the goal.
How to breed toward six perfect IVs
1. Check the rules for your game
Breeding systems and item availability can differ between Pokémon games. The IV-inheritance details below come from Smogon University’s Generation 8 breeding guide; do not assume they apply unchanged to every title. Official guides describe game-specific systems too: the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Egg hatching guide covers Ditto pairings and egg species, while the Sword and Shield guide to Natures and Egg Moves covers those game’s related mechanics.
2. Start with parents that cover as many perfect stats as possible
Choose compatible parents whose combined IVs include 31s across as many of the six stats as you can. A Ditto can make pairings more flexible. The official Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl guide says Ditto can pair with male or female Pokémon and is the only Pokémon known to be compatible with Pokémon of unknown gender.

3. Give one parent a Destiny Knot
In the cited Generation 8 guide, a Destiny Knot causes five IVs to be inherited from the parents; without it, three IVs are inherited. As Smogon University puts it, “The Destiny Knot guarantees that 5 IVs will be passed down.” This means five stats are selected for inheritance—not that five or six stats are guaranteed to be 31.
4. Hatch eggs and inspect the offspring
Use the Judge feature if it is available in your game. Keep offspring that improve the IV coverage of your breeding pair, then use them in later breeding rounds where compatible. Repeat the cycle: hatch, inspect, and replace a parent when an offspring makes the available parent IVs stronger.

Why a Destiny Knot does not guarantee six perfect IVs
Even with excellent parents, the Destiny Knot passes down five IVs, leaving one stat outside that inheritance selection. The remaining stat means a six-perfect-IV result is not assured by using the Knot. The odds depend on the parents’ IVs and the target game’s rules; a universal probability cannot be stated from the available evidence.
Nature and Egg Moves are separate breeding goals
If you also want a particular Nature or Egg Move, check the rules for the exact game rather than assuming those mechanics match across titles. The official Sword and Shield guide explains that Natures can affect which stats tend to grow faster or slower and describes Egg Moves passing between Pokémon at the Nursery in that game. Those details are Sword and Shield-specific context, not a guarantee of identical behavior in other games.

Breeding versus changing stats after hatching
Breeding is the relevant route when your goal is naturally inherited IVs. Do not assume that a post-hatch stat-training option changes a Pokémon’s natural IVs or the IVs it passes to offspring; check the rules for your particular title before relying on one.
