You can run a continuous Assamese music livestream with OBS by looping a rights-cleared video or playlist, connecting OBS to a YouTube Live event, and keeping the computer and internet connection running. First secure the rights to every recording and composition: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a stream can be interrupted even when you have a license if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID.
1. Clear the rights to every song
Do this before you build the playlist. YouTube’s Live Stream Terms and Conditions say the streamer must have the necessary rights to exploit live content on Google services, including music rights from artists, labels, publishers and other rights participants.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. If it detects protected content, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, interrupt it or terminate it. For music licensed from a third party, YouTube advises asking the owner to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist; having a license may not by itself prevent interruptions.
For each track, keep written permission and check that it covers the sound recording and composition, continuous livestreaming, territories, and any archived playback. A credit, purchase, or publicly available upload is not proof of permission. The rights holder for a particular Assamese song or catalog cannot be inferred from its language or genre, so confirm the relevant rights directly.

2. Choose how OBS will loop the music
Use local copies of the audio or video files you are authorized to stream. OBS offers two useful approaches: a single looping file or a playlist. The Media Source can restart one file when it ends. The VLC Video source can play a playlist, loop it, and shuffle it; VLC must be installed for that source to appear in OBS.
One file: simplest setup
In OBS, add a Media Source to your scene, select the file, and enable Loop. This suits a prepared long-form video that already combines the music and visual. Replace the file when you want to change the program.
Playlist: easier track rotation
Install VLC if needed, then add a VLC Video source and populate its playlist with the cleared files. Leave Loop Playlist enabled for continuous playback; use shuffle only if you want tracks to play in a different order. Check what happens when a file ends and when one playlist item cannot be opened before relying on the scene unattended.

Build and check the scene
- Create a scene in OBS and add the visual: for example, a static image or an animation you have permission to use.
- Add the Media Source or VLC Video source and arrange it with the visual in the preview.
- Watch the audio mixer while playback runs. Confirm the meter responds and listen for clipping, silence, or abrupt gaps between tracks.
- Use OBS’s Quick Start Guide and auto-configuration wizard to establish a starting setup, then test it rather than assuming the defaults suit your connection.
3. Enable YouTube Live and create an encoder event
Your channel must have live-streaming access before OBS can send a broadcast. YouTube says first-time live-stream enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do this ahead of your planned launch.
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a live stream in Live Control Room.
- Choose the encoder workflow and open the event’s stream settings to get its stream URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings → Stream, select YouTube or the appropriate service, and connect using the event’s stream key or the available account connection flow.
- Keep the key private. YouTube describes it as functioning like the stream’s password and address; anyone who obtains it could send video to your event.
- Use RTMPS where it is available. Start the OBS stream and confirm YouTube receives the intended video and audio before making the event public.
Follow YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance for the selected resolution and codec. Its recommendations include H.264 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate encoding, and a two-second keyframe interval. For H.264, YouTube lists 5 Mbps for 720p30 and 10 Mbps for 1080p30 as recommended bitrates. These are platform recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular computer or connection can sustain them.
4. Match stream quality to your connection
YouTube recommends leaving about 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the total stream bitrate. If the stream’s bitrate consumes all available upload capacity, normal variation in the connection can cause buffering or a degraded stream. Choose a resolution and bitrate your actual connection can sustain, then test them with the scene running.

For an audio-led channel with a mostly static visual, a stable 720p or 1080p stream is generally more useful than choosing a higher resolution that repeatedly drops frames. This is a practical recommendation based on YouTube’s published bitrate guidance and network constraints, not a performance test of your setup. YouTube also recommends testing with audio and movement similar to the real broadcast.
5. Prepare the computer, network and monitoring routine
OBS recommends a wired network connection for streaming because Wi-Fi can be unstable. If your computer and router have Ethernet ports and are within reach, connect them with a suitable Ethernet cable; a cable does not guarantee uninterrupted service.
A local OBS setup depends on the computer, power, internet connection and operator’s ability to respond to failures. Before announcing a 24/7 schedule, run a longer private test and check that:

- Music continues cleanly at track boundaries and the playlist keeps looping.
- The YouTube watch page shows the stream correctly when viewed from another device.
- The computer does not sleep, overheat or stop OBS during an extended run.
- Someone can monitor stream health and restart the broadcast if OBS, the computer, the network or YouTube interrupts it.
YouTube’s encoder guidance covers testing and monitoring, but it does not certify a particular computer, backup battery or internet service for continuous uptime. A successful local loop is not proof that the public livestream will stay online.

YouTube will not accept the stream
Confirm that live streaming has been enabled on the channel; initial enablement can take up to 24 hours. Check that OBS is using the stream key for the correct Live Control Room event and that the key has not been changed or copied incorrectly.
The stream buffers, drops frames or loses connection
Check YouTube’s stream health, lower the bitrate or resolution if the upload connection cannot sustain the current setting, and retain the recommended upload headroom. Prefer wired Ethernet over Wi-Fi where practical. Test again with the actual media and scene rather than a lighter test signal.

The video plays but there is no music
Check that the source file is available to OBS, the correct Media Source or VLC playlist is selected, and the audio mixer meter moves during playback. Listen to a test recording or private stream; a visible source alone does not confirm audible output.
The playlist stops or skips unexpectedly
Check that VLC is installed and the VLC Video source contains the intended files. Verify that Loop Playlist is enabled and that each file opens and plays through to its end. If simplicity matters more than changing tracks, use one prepared file with Media Source’s Loop option.
YouTube interrupts the broadcast for a copyright match
Do not assume a license automatically prevents a Content ID interruption. Contact the rights holder, confirm the license covers the intended live use, and ask them to allowlist the channel where appropriate. If you cannot establish the necessary rights, remove the track from the stream.
