Build Greatsword and Wand and Tome as a self-sustaining frontline bruiser: use Greatsword for melee damage and crowd control, then rely on Wand and Tome for healing, curses, and defensive support. Start with Strength as your main stat and add Wisdom for sustain. This pairing is best when you value staying in the fight and helping control it over maximum damage or dedicated-healer output.
What role does Greatsword and Wand and Tome fill?
Throne and Liberty uses weapons, rather than a fixed class choice, to shape a character’s combat role. As the official gameplay page puts it, “Choose your combat role by wielding weapons, not selecting classes.” Greatsword and Wand and Tome therefore describes a weapon pairing, not a class you select.
Greatsword gives you melee pressure, cleave, and control. Wand and Tome adds curses, healing, and defensive utility. Together, they make a durable hybrid suited to solo play or a group frontline role where you can stay near the fight and contribute support. You are not a replacement for a dedicated damage dealer or primary healer: the build trades peak damage and healing throughput for survivability and control.
How should you distribute stats?
Use Strength as your foundation. It supports Greatsword damage, health, and heavy-attack chance. Add Wisdom to improve healing and cooldown utility, then consider Perception as a secondary direction. The right balance depends on your content, gear, and whether another healer is supporting the group.

- Group with another healer: Put more of your stat budget toward Strength, since you have more room to emphasize frontline damage.
- Perception: Treat it as a secondary option rather than following a fixed universal total.
The August 2026 MMO Frontier Paladin build recommends this general Strength-and-Wisdom direction, but exact distributions are patch- and gear-sensitive. Older community builds show substantially different totals, so check the current client rather than copying a dated point recipe.
Which skills should you start with?
Build around an engage, a control tool, Greatsword damage, and a Wand heal. A recent directional starting core includes Precision Dash, Stunning Blow, Guillotine Blade, and Swift Healing. Fountain of Life can add healing utility. Depending on whether you need solo sustain, group support, or more damage and control, older examples also include Cursed Nightmare, Clay’s Salvation, and DaVinci’s Courage.

Keep healing available rather than waiting until you are nearly defeated. Use control to buy time for attacks and recovery; if an enemy can disengage, your slower attrition plan may be harder to maintain.

There is no established definitive current best-in-slot set in the cited builds. Older community pages illustrate different approaches, but their item recommendations are not verified as current acquisition or optimization advice.

Those examples come from pages marked roughly two years old. Before pursuing a specific item, verify its availability and stats in your live client and account for your region and game mode. Treat older item combinations as historical examples, not a current gearing plan.

- Solo play: Self-healing and durability help you sustain a fight, while a greater emphasis on Wisdom supports that role.
- Group frontline support: You can combine Greatsword control and pressure with Wand utility. If a teammate handles primary healing, you can emphasize Strength more.
- Dedicated damage or healing: Choose a specialist pairing if your priority is the highest damage ceiling or stronger healing throughput; this hybrid gives up some of both.
- Against mobile opponents: Enemies that can readily leave melee range can blunt the build’s pressure and make an attrition approach less effective.
There is no verified controlled numerical comparison for this pairing, so judge it by your role and priorities rather than an unsupported damage figure, win rate, or tier ranking.
How should you handle patches and older build guides?
Skill specializations, item stats, and effective stat allocations can change with patches. The August 2026 MMO Frontier guide specifically cautions that exact specializations may shift.
