The game’s official listing puts it simply: “there is no strongest knight but only stronger formation.”
What makes a team strong?
A lineup works when its Knights’ jobs and interactions complement one another. The official game listing identifies six elements—Water, Fire, Air, Earth, Light and Darkness—and four types—Protector, Warrior, Assassin and Skilled. It also highlights attribute restraint and control skills as parts of team building. Those systems matter alongside individual Knight strength; a powerful character cannot by itself cover every team need.
Use these questions to assess a lineup rather than looking for one universal ranking:
- Survivability: Can the front line withstand pressure long enough for damage dealers and support to contribute?
- Damage plan: Does the team have enough focused damage or sustained output for this encounter?
- Support and control: Can it heal, buff allies, disrupt enemies or counter the opposing plan?
- Interactions: Do its elements and Knight types work usefully with the game’s attribute and control mechanics?
- Mode and account fit: Are these Knights available and developed on your account, and do they suit the content you are attempting?
Start with a practical formation
If you are unsure where to begin, a 2022 beginner guide from JeuxVideo recommends two tanks in front, with a healer or buffer and two damage sources behind. Treat that as a first draft, not a rule: adapt it to the Knights you own, their capabilities and the challenge. A reliable front line is useful only if the rest of the team can make the most of the time it buys.

- Check the encounter and your available Knights. Identify what the stage or opponent demands, then work with characters you can actually field and develop.
- Assign frontline jobs. Put your most durable Protectors or other dependable frontliners where they can absorb pressure.
- Plan damage. Add damage sources suited to the encounter, whether the team needs focused hits or output over a longer fight.
- Fill the support gap. Add healing, buffs, control or debuffs where your roster allows. Choose effects that help the team execute its damage and survival plan.
- Review elements, types and opening effects. Consider the game’s interactions and whether the team’s abilities need to happen in a particular order.
Why your boss and arena teams may differ
Community lineup resources show separate examples for boss encounters and arena defense, a reminder that one formation should not be assumed to work best everywhere. A boss plan may need to keep the team alive and deal damage through a longer encounter. An arena-defense lineup must account for what an opponent might bring and whether the opening effects protect key allies or disrupt the other team.
Use published boss and defense lineups as illustrations of different plans, not prescriptions. They do not account for your roster, investment, region or current balance context. For a story stage, boss or PvP defense, ask what the specific task rewards and revise the formation accordingly.

Test position when opening skills matter
A community mechanics analysis describes opening-skill sequencing as dependent on start order, with position breaking ties between allied fighters at the same start order. That can make formation placement a tactical choice: a control or protection skill that resolves too late may not serve the opening you want.
- Identify the opening skill you need to land early, such as control or protection.
- Adjust positions and compare how the opening exchange resolves.
- If the sequence still does not fit, reconsider the lineup or its speed and acceleration interactions.
This sequencing description comes from community analysis, not a guarantee for every version. The same analysis says ordinary action priority resumes after opening abilities, with speed, acceleration and control among the factors involved. Treat position changes as something to test in your own fights.

How to use current meta examples
A Codex guide dated March 24, 2026 discusses advanced China-version compositions built around themes including Hades, ice, endurance, burst and Milo. Its author frames the recommendations as one advanced player’s opinion and cautions that character arrival timing can differ in other regions. These examples can suggest team-building ideas or longer-term roster targets, but they are not a guaranteed answer for another server or account.
More generally, the strongest lineup remains unsettled across servers, modes, rosters and balance contexts. Before copying a community team, check whether its Knights are available to you and whether its plan addresses the content you are facing.

There is no established best lineup for every player and mode. Start with complementary roles and adapt to your roster, matchup and server; published China-version recommendations should not automatically be applied elsewhere.
Which characters should I put in the front row?
