To play Sunday school lessons in sequence, create a YouTube playlist, add the lesson videos or completed livestream replays, arrange them in teaching order, and start playback from the playlist with Autoplay enabled on the device used in class. This plays one video after another; it does not turn the playlist into a continuous live broadcast. Check the playlist and Autoplay on the actual classroom device before students arrive.
Choose the right kind of playback
A YouTube playlist is an ordered collection of videos. It is a straightforward way to organize lessons students can watch in sequence, whether the entries are ordinary uploads or replays of completed livestreams.

For a Sunday school viewing sequence, an ordinary playlist is usually enough. A live broadcast is happening in real time; a replay is the video left on the channel after the broadcast. Use replays when you want lessons to remain as playlist entries after the live event ends.
Create the playlist and add lessons
From a lesson’s watch page
- Open one of the lesson videos on YouTube.
- Select More, then Save.
- Choose Create new playlist, enter a descriptive name such as “Sunday School — Spring Lessons,” and choose its visibility.
- Save the video to the new playlist. For each additional lesson, open its watch page, select More > Save, and choose the playlist you created.
In YouTube Studio on desktop
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create > New playlist.
- Enter the title and, if useful, a description explaining the class, age group, or lesson sequence.
- Choose the playlist’s visibility and arrangement, add the lesson videos, then create the playlist.
- Open the playlist in Studio to review its contents and settings.
YouTube also provides a corresponding save-to-playlist flow on mobile. The exact controls can vary with the app and device. If the video or channel audience is marked “made for kids,” YouTube says a video cannot be added to a playlist from the homepage; adding it from search results may still be possible.

Choose visibility for your class
- Public: choose this if anyone should be able to find and view the playlist.
- Unlisted: use this for link-based sharing when the option is available. People with the link can access it, so share it only with the intended audience.
- Private: YouTube’s guidance says only the owner can view a private playlist. It is not the right choice when students or families need access.
Check the current visibility options in the interface before sharing, especially if you are managing the playlist from a different device or account.
Put lessons in teaching order
Open the playlist and arrange the entries so the first video is the lesson you want students to see first. On desktop, drag videos into the intended order; YouTube Studio also provides playlist arrangement and editing controls. Review the finished list from top to bottom, including titles and any duplicate or outdated entries.
If you choose the official series-playlist setting, eligibility is narrower than for an ordinary playlist: the channel must be verified, the videos must be the channel’s own and rights-cleared, and each video can belong to only one series playlist. You do not need this setting just to make a sequential classroom playlist.

Add completed livestream replays safely
After a Sunday school livestream ends, YouTube may make its replay or highlights available as channel videos. Once the archive appears, add that video to the ordinary playlist as you would any other lesson. Do not assume that an in-progress livestream is already a permanent playlist entry.

YouTube Help says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived; streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. For an important lesson, keep a local recording as a backup rather than relying only on the automatic archive. Check the channel after the broadcast to confirm the replay exists and plays before depending on it for class.
DVR is different from a replay: it lets viewers pause and resume during a live broadcast, but it does not provide access to a point before the stream began. DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours.

Start playback and enable Autoplay
- Open the playlist and start its first lesson, rather than opening a single video separately.
- On the playback device, check that Autoplay is on. YouTube says that when Autoplay is enabled, another related video plays automatically after the current video ends.
- Confirm that the next lesson in the playlist is the intended one. Autoplay controls and behavior can differ across devices, so check the actual classroom TV, computer, or mobile device.
- Test the sequence briefly before class: play the first video, verify its sound and picture, and confirm that the next item starts as expected.
Autoplay is not a guarantee of unattended, indefinite playback. YouTube documents inactivity stops of 30 minutes on a mobile network and four hours on Wi-Fi. Network conditions, account settings, device controls, and interface changes can also affect playback.
Keep a YouTube channel live around the clock
A playlist watched in the YouTube player is not the same thing as a YouTube Live broadcast that stays on air. If your goal is for a channel to broadcast uploaded Sunday school lessons continuously, YouTube’s general live-streaming guidance says the channel needs verification and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Check current account eligibility and the requirements for the streaming method you choose before setting up a new broadcast.

- A lesson is missing from the playlist: confirm you saved the correct video to the intended playlist and are viewing the right account. For a made-for-kids video, try adding it from search results rather than the homepage.
- The next lesson does not start: check Autoplay on the viewing device, start playback from the playlist, and verify the playlist order. Autoplay may stop after the documented inactivity period.
- The playlist is not accessible to students: review its visibility. A private playlist is owner-only; use public or unlisted access as appropriate for your class.
- A livestream replay is unavailable: check the channel again after the broadcast and confirm whether an archive was created. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured; use a local recording backup for important lessons.
- The live-stream setup is unavailable: check channel verification and whether the account has a live-streaming restriction from the prior 90 days, then confirm requirements for the specific broadcast method.
Copyright and classroom access
Only add lesson videos you have permission to use and share. For an official series playlist, the uploader must own the videos and the rights to them. Playlist visibility determines who can access the organized videos, but it does not grant permission to redistribute copyrighted material. If a lesson contains third-party music, clips, or other protected material, resolve the applicable rights before broadcasting or sharing it.
