There is no universal calibration button combination for Hall effect controller sticks. The steps depend on the exact controller model and platform, so check the manufacturer’s current instructions before calibrating. If a stick drifts, sits off center, or fails to reach full movement, first check the active profile, dead zones, mappings, and connection; those can affect input without calibration being the cause.
Before calibrating, identify the controller and the symptom
Note the manufacturer, exact model, connection mode, platform, and where the problem occurs. If the stick behaves incorrectly in only one game, compare that game’s input settings with a controller test or another app before changing the controller itself. Procedures vary even within one brand: GameSir’s FAQ lists model-specific guidance, and 8BitDo gives different steps for its Pro 3 and Ultimate 2 Wireless.
Use the manual or official support page for your exact model. GameSir’s manual index links product-specific manuals covering setup and troubleshooting. Do not assume instructions for another controller apply just because both use Hall effect sticks. Also check the sensor type: 8BitDo identifies the sticks in both of the cited models as TMR, not Hall effect.
Check settings and connections before recalibrating
Review the active controller profile, stick mapping, dead-zone setting, response options, and in-game input configuration. A mapping or profile change can make a stick appear inaccurate when its calibration is not the issue. For symptoms involving a controller that is not responding, follow the maker’s connection and cable checks where applicable; GameSir documents these checks for some cases in its FAQ.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Dead zone: A smaller initial dead zone can make slight resting input more noticeable. A larger dead zone means the stick must move farther before input registers. Neither setting is automatically correct for every controller or player.
- Mapping and profile: Confirm that the intended stick is assigned to the expected input and that the profile you edited is the one currently active.
- Game settings: Check for separate dead-zone, sensitivity, or response settings in the game. Change one setting at a time and retest the same movement rather than copying another player’s values.
- Connection: If the issue includes missed or unresponsive input, check the connection method and cable as directed by the manufacturer.
Calibrate using the exact model’s instructions
Calibrate when you have a persistent input symptom or the manufacturer recommends it. Read the complete model-specific procedure first, including how to enter calibration, whether the controller must be connected in a particular way, whether triggers are included, and how to save or exit. Some procedures measure the resting point before measuring the full range; others use different steps. A calibration can also depend on having the faceplate installed.
Where the maker’s instructions call for it, leave sticks and triggers untouched while the resting point is sampled, then move the sticks gently and steadily through their full range. Do not rush or force the controls. Treat this as general guidance only: button combinations, app paths, trigger steps, and save actions are not standardized.

Example: GameSir Tegenaria Lite
For the Tegenaria Lite specifically, GameSir’s FAQ says to hold View, Menu, and Home until the controller vibrates; leave the sticks and triggers untouched and press A; push both sticks to their limits and rotate them two to three times; fully press each trigger three times; then press A to exit. The page also describes toggling this model’s stick dead zone by holding M and pressing the left or right stick. These steps are not instructions for other GameSir controllers.
Example: 8BitDo Pro 3
For the Pro 3, 8BitDo’s FAQ says to power on, hold L1 + R1 + Select for eight seconds to enter calibration, slowly rotate the sticks at their edges two to three times, and slowly press the triggers to the bottom two to three times. Repeat the button combination to finish. Use that sequence only for the Pro 3.

Other models have different procedures
The Ultimate 2 Wireless has its own calibration sequence and dead-zone instructions in its 8BitDo FAQ; it is not the Pro 3 procedure, and its sticks are identified as TMR. Steam’s cited instructions apply to the 2015 Steam Controller, not third-party controllers or newer models. Follow the page for your exact device rather than transferring steps between products.

After calibration, use the same test or game and repeat the same stick movement you used to identify the problem. If inaccurate input continues after checking settings, connection, and the correct calibration procedure, contact the manufacturer’s support or warranty channel. The manufacturer pages cited here do not establish a universal test threshold that proves a Hall sensor or stick module has failed. Do not assume a particular component is defective or open the controller without repair documentation for that model.
