You can change the email address linked to League of Legends through your Riot account settings. Sign in, edit the email in the account security section, enter the new address twice and your current Riot account password, then verify the new address using Riot’s email link. The change is for your Riot account; it does not change your Riot ID, summoner name, login username, or account region.
Change your email on the League of Legends website
- Go to the official League of Legends website and sign in to your Riot account.
- Open the menu beside your name and select Settings.
- Find the email address in the account protection or security section, then choose the edit or change option.
- Enter the new email address in both fields and enter your current Riot account password in the password field.
- Submit the change. Riot sends a verification message to the new address.
- Open that message and follow its confirmation link. If the account page or client shows a final completion button, select it.
Riot’s email verification FAQ describes the website route as signing in, opening the player-name menu, choosing Settings, and managing the address under account protection. Labels can vary by language, region, or interface version.
Change your email from the League client
Use this route if the client displays an email-verification prompt. Riot’s email verification instructions describe a change link beneath the address shown in the prompt.
- Check the displayed address. If it is not the one you want, select Change your email or the equivalent link.
- Enter the new address in both email fields, then enter your current Riot account password in the password field.
- Select Submit or the available send control.
- Verify the new address from the email Riot sends. If the client offers a final completion control, select it.
Finish verification and confirm the change
Submitting the address and verifying it are separate steps: the change may remain incomplete until you use the confirmation link sent to the new mailbox. After following the link, check the account page or client for the verified address or a completion message. Riot’s verification FAQ explains that verified email is used for account notifications and confirmations.

Riot support pages have cited different sender formats in different regions and instructions. Do not trust a message solely because of its displayed sender name or address. If you are unsure about a link, navigate to the official League or Riot account page directly; do not enter your password on a suspicious third-party page.
Troubleshoot email-change problems
The verification email has not arrived
- Refresh the inbox and check spam, junk, promotions, and other filtered folders.
- Search for “Riot” or “League of Legends” and confirm that you entered the new address correctly.
- Use the resend control if one is available. Then open the newest verification message: requesting another message can invalidate earlier links.
Riot does not establish a universal delivery time in the cited instructions, so allow for normal email filtering rather than relying on a fixed wait time.

The verification link is invalid or expired
Find the newest verification email and use its link. Riot’s FAQ says older links can become invalid after a newer verification request. Exact error wording may vary.

Your password is rejected or the change option is missing
Use the current Riot account password, not the password for your email provider. If the password is unknown, the edit option is absent, or the account page does not accept the change, use Riot Player Support rather than an unofficial recovery service; the account may require recovery or additional verification.

You cannot access the old email address
If you can still sign in and the settings accept your current password, try the normal change flow. The documented client steps do not establish that access to the old mailbox is always required. If Riot asks for a code sent there, or you cannot complete verification, contact Riot Support through its account-recovery process; there is no established universal self-service bypass for an inaccessible old mailbox.
You cannot sign in or someone changed the address
Use Riot’s account-recovery process if you cannot sign in, the address changed without your permission, or you suspect the account was compromised. Change the Riot password if you still have access, and review the account’s security settings after regaining control. Riot says it can assist only the account owner; its account-owner support guidance does not guarantee a particular recovery outcome. Do not share credentials or pay an unofficial recovery service.

The new email is reported as already in use
Check for a typing error and confirm whether the address is attached to another Riot account. The available Riot guidance does not establish a universal rule about using one address across accounts in every region. If the address is yours but the interface still reports a conflict, contact Riot Support rather than trying to bypass the restriction with a disposable address.
Keep the account secure
Do not share your Riot password or account. Riot’s verification guidance warns that account sharing can let another person verify their own email on the account and create security problems. If an unexpected email change appears, treat it as a possible account-security issue, not a routine profile update.
