To change the price of a YouTube channel membership tier, open YouTube Studio on a computer and go to Earn → Memberships. In the “Step 1: Add levels and perks” box, select Edit, follow the prompts, and publish. YouTube reviews membership levels and perks before they go live; the review takes about a day. The change applies to new members, not existing members, who keep the price at which they originally joined.
Change a membership price in YouTube Studio
- On a computer, sign in to YouTube Studio with the channel that offers memberships.
- Open Earn → Memberships.
- In the Step 1: Add levels and perks box, select Edit.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to adjust the level or levels, then publish. YouTube’s instructions say, “Once complete, click Publish.”
- Allow about a day for YouTube to review the levels and perks before they go live.
If you are setting up memberships for the first time, check the country or region pricing table and the values offered in Studio before announcing a price. YouTube recommends starting with one to three levels, though channels can have up to six. Each level can include one to five perks, and higher-priced levels include the perks of lower-priced levels. Choose perks you can reliably deliver and consider your audience’s demographics; YouTube’s guidance does not establish a price that maximizes revenue.
India membership prices: new and previous tiers
YouTube’s India table distinguishes new prices from previous prices. YouTube says the new schedule began rolling out gradually in May 2025, so the amount a viewer sees may depend on when they join. The figures below are YouTube’s published USD-to-INR tier mapping, not a guarantee of a particular viewer’s final charge.

Check the current table and the price shown in Studio rather than assuming every India-based viewer will see one universal amount. What happens to current members?
A price edit does not automatically move existing members to the new tier price. YouTube states: “At this time, existing members will remain at the price they originally signed up with.” Its pricing guidance says creators can adjust price levels for new members once every 12 months from the last price update. Plan a change with that interval in mind, and make clear in any announcement whether the quoted figure is for new sign-ups rather than current members. See YouTube’s channel memberships pricing tips.
If Memberships is missing or setup is not available
- The Memberships tab is absent: the channel may not be eligible. Review YouTube’s channel membership eligibility and activation instructions.
- You are activating memberships for the first time: complete the setup in YouTube Studio on a computer and accept the Commerce Product Module when prompted.
- You recently joined the YouTube Partner Program: YouTube says membership activation can take up to two days while it reviews eligibility.
- You cannot find the price-edit control: return to Earn → Memberships and look in the Step 1: Add levels and perks box for Edit.
