On PS5, open your profile picture, select Profile, then choose Games to browse the hours recorded for games on your account. For a child’s recent activity, use the PlayStation Family app; for a game’s own timer, check its save or statistics menu.
Check hours played for a game on PS5
- Sign in to the PlayStation account whose playtime you want to check.
- From the PS5 home screen, select your profile picture in the upper-right corner.
- Select Profile, then open the Games tab.
- Find the game in the list and read its recorded hours and last-played information.
This profile list is the most useful built-in place to browse multiple games, including titles that are no longer on your home screen. It can include PS4 and PS5 games associated with the account, but different versions may appear as separate entries. Playtime belongs to the signed-in account, not the console or disc, so hours logged under another user are not added to your profile. Menu labels and placement can vary with system software and region. PS Playtime’s PS5 instructions describe the Profile > Games route; it is a secondary, not Sony, source.
Quickly check a recently played game
- Go to the PS5 home screen.
- Highlight the game in the recent-games row.
- Look on or around its tile, or in its information area, for a playtime indicator.
The indicator’s visibility can depend on the interface, the game’s placement, and whether recent data has synchronized. If it is not shown, or you want to browse more than a recent title, use Profile > Games.
Check a child’s recent activity
The PlayStation Family app is intended for family management, not as a replacement for an adult account’s complete Games list. A family manager, parent, or guardian can use it to view a child’s recent activity and manage playtime limits. Sony’s US documentation describes an Activity summary covering the previous seven days, including the child’s most-played games and apps; the product page says family managers and appointed guardians can see gameplay activity and playtime hours from the past week. PlayStation Family app support and the PlayStation Family app page provide the current details.

- Install and open the PlayStation Family app, then sign in with the family manager, parent, or guardian account.
- Select the child’s account.
- Scroll to Activity to review recent activity.
- Open Playtime to view or manage limits and schedules.
Activity is a report; Playtime controls are for setting limits. Sony says activity data updates when the app is opened or refreshed. The US product page lists the app as a free iOS and Android download and states requirements of iOS 14 or Android 8 or higher; check the page for current regional availability and requirements. Setting controls requires the appropriate family permissions and a time zone for the child account. Sony’s playtime-controls guide explains the permissions and the options to notify a child or log them out when time ends.
Does the regular PlayStation App show all your hours?
Do not rely on the standard PlayStation App as a complete, sortable playtime history for an adult account. Sony’s published activity-report instructions describe the child-focused PlayStation Family app. For your own game-by-game account history, check the PS5’s Profile > Games view.

What PS5 playtime does—and does not—measure
Treat the profile’s hours as a useful account-level estimate, not a precise stopwatch of active gameplay. The number can be rounded or delayed, and a game’s save-file timer may count different things. A title left open, paused, or suspended may also produce a different result from its internal timer. Sony’s explanation of child playtime in its parental-controls context is broader: it describes time logged into the console even when games or applications are not running. That definition applies to parental-control playtime and should not be assumed to define the personal per-game counter. Sony’s ratings and parental-controls information provides that qualification.
Why hours may be missing or different
- Sync delay or offline play: A recent session may not appear until the console reconnects and account data updates.
- Rounded display: The profile may show whole hours rather than minute-by-minute totals.
- Different versions: PS4 and PS5 editions of the same game can have separate entries and counters.
- Another account: Play on a different local user or PlayStation account is not necessarily counted on the account you are viewing.
- Different timers: A game’s save or statistics screen may measure gameplay differently from the account-level display.
- Idle or suspended sessions: Leaving a game running can affect the displayed total differently from the game’s own timer.
- Temporary errors: System or service issues can leave a value stale or inconsistent.
What to do if hours are missing
- Close the game fully instead of leaving it suspended.
- Confirm the PS5 is connected to PlayStation Network.
- Restart the console and check for an available system-software update.
- Reopen the game, then check the profile again later to allow time for synchronization.
- Confirm you are viewing the correct account and the correct PS4 or PS5 game entry.
- Compare the profile figure with the game’s own save or statistics screen, keeping in mind that the two may measure different things.
- If discrepancies continue across games, use PlayStation Support for account, console, game, or connectivity help.
These steps can help identify a sync or account issue; they cannot guarantee recovery of historical time that was not recorded.

Can you check another player’s hours or use trophies?
Another player’s game or activity information may be visible only if their privacy settings allow it and the relevant profile data is available. Sony’s Family app and privacy guidance explains account activity and privacy controls; it does not make every player’s playtime universally viewable. Trophies show achievements and progress, not a guaranteed total-hours figure. Some games do show their own playtime in a save or statistics menu, but that figure is title-specific.

Sony’s published guidance establishes the PS5 Games profile view for personal game history and Family app reports for child activity. It does not establish an official CSV export or robust sorting and filtering tool for an adult account’s complete playtime history. Third-party trackers are unofficial and may depend on discoverable profile data or other access; review their privacy terms rather than making an account public solely to use one.
