A game described simply as “included with PS Plus” may require a tier you do not have, may no longer be in a catalog, or may have needed to be claimed during an earlier monthly-games window.
First identify which PS Plus benefit the claim means
Sony’s US tier comparison assigns different game benefits to each plan. Extra includes Essential benefits, and Premium includes Essential and Extra benefits. The benefit label matters: a previously claimed Monthly Game and a title currently offered in a catalog have different access conditions.

This tier mapping comes from Sony’s US PS Plus membership comparison and US games finder. Catalog lineups can change, so the tier guide alone does not establish that a particular game is available now.
Check the game in the signed-in PlayStation experience
Use the account that has the subscription and will play the game. Sony’s menu paths are:

- PS5: From the Games home screen, open PlayStation Plus, choose Benefits, then Monthly Games or Game Catalog.
- PS4: From the function screen, open PlayStation Plus, then select Monthly Games or Game Catalog.
Find the title and inspect the available action or eligibility shown for that account. Sony notes that downloading a Game Catalog title requires the correct membership plan. Its Monthly Games support guide also describes checking the monthly games area. Away from a console, Sony says a selected monthly game can be downloaded remotely through a web browser or the PlayStation App; make sure you are signed into the right account.
Verify the entitlement and timing
If it is a Monthly Game
Check whether you added it to your library while it was available to claim. Sony says Monthly Games can be added to the library and played while the membership remains active. A title that was once a Monthly Game is not necessarily claimable now if its claim period has passed.

If it is a catalog game or classic
Check that the account has a tier with access to that catalog and that the title is still listed. Sony says some catalog games have an end date and are removed from the service. The Game Catalog support guide explains the plan access; check the live catalog when you intend to play rather than relying on an older announcement.
If it is a game trial
Trials are listed as a Premium benefit in Sony’s US tier comparison. Confirm that the specific title is currently offered as a trial in your signed-in account view; a trial listing is not the same as full access to a game through a catalog.

When the claim and your account do not match
- The claim says Game Catalog, but you have Essential: Sony lists Game Catalog access for Extra and Premium, not Essential.
- You expected a Monthly Game: Check whether it was added to your library during its claim window and whether your membership is active.
- The title used to appear in a catalog: It may have reached its end date and been removed.
- The account view differs from the claim: Confirm that you are signed into the subscribed account and checking the regional Store associated with it.
The cited Sony tier and games pages are US pages. They establish the general tier mapping and checking routes, but not the current entitlement for every individual title, edition, account, or region. Use the signed-in local Store/account view as the final check for the game you want.
