There is no universal rule: a game may reset all progress, preserve it, or reset progression while keeping some purchases or rewards. Check the publisher’s current guidance for the exact game, and verify each type of data separately before you invest substantial time or money.
Find the policy for the exact game
Look on the game’s official publisher support site, FAQ, or news page. Search for terms such as “soft launch,” “global launch,” “progress reset,” “data transfer,” and “carry over.” A forum post or another game’s policy cannot confirm what will happen in your game.
Save the official page and note its date and any region it applies to. Recheck near global launch, since instructions can change. If the wording is unclear, contact publisher support before spending money or committing significant play time; keep your receipts and player ID available.
Check each kind of data separately
“Progress” can refer to several things, and a publisher may treat them differently. Look for explicit answers about:

- Account data, levels, story progress, and other progression
- Items, currencies, and purchased premium currency
- Paid purchases, earned rewards, and event rewards
- Any compensation or replacement value for items that do not transfer
Do not assume that a statement about purchases means levels or items will carry over—or that a reset of progression means every purchase is lost.
Confirm the account, region, and claim steps
Find out where the soft-launch data is stored: it may be tied to a publisher login, a platform account, a particular region or server, or a guest profile. Check whether the publisher requires the same login at global launch, whether you must reconnect an account, and whether retained rewards have a claim deadline or other steps.

For example, EA’s FIFA Mobile FAQ said purchased FIFA Points would be credited after players logged in following the reset and instructed them to reconnect the linked Facebook account to see the balance. That is a game-specific procedure, not a general rule. Read EA’s FIFA Mobile FIFA Points FAQ.
Make sure the policy covers a soft launch, not a test
Publishers may use different rules for regional soft launches, betas, network tests, and demos. Check which phase the announcement describes before applying it to your account. Bandai Namco’s network-test FAQ, for instance, says play data from the beta test would be reset; that does not establish how a separate soft launch will be handled. These policies are examples, not predictions for an unnamed game. They illustrate why the answer must come from the publisher of the exact title.

If the answer is still unclear
- Ask support whether the policy applies to your region and the specific launch phase you played.
- Ask separately about progression, purchases, currencies, and earned rewards.
- Confirm the required account login, server or region, and any deadline or claim process.
- Keep the support reply, receipts, and player ID in case you need to follow up after launch.
