It is a target configuration, not a guarantee that every matching PC will deliver 60 FPS in every scene.
Which version of The Witcher 3 has Path Tracing?
The current feature covered here is in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered, released for PC on September 29, 2026. CD PROJEKT RED says Path Tracing is available on PC in Remastered. CD PROJEKT RED’s release announcement confirms the release and edition.
What PC does the published Path Tracing target call for?
PC Gamer’s September 29, 2026 report transcribes CD PROJEKT RED’s Path Tracing row as follows. The developer’s support page confirms that its performance targets were measured with upscaling and Frame Generation enabled.

These components and settings describe a complete target configuration; the RTX 5080 alone is not a pass/fail test for a PC. PC Gamer’s report attributes the component-level figures to the developer’s published table.

How to check your PC against the target
- Find your hardware. Record the exact graphics card and processor models, plus the amount of installed system memory. In Windows, you can check these in Task Manager’s Performance tab; use the GPU and CPU model names rather than judging by a brand or product family alone.
- Set the intended display target. Note your output resolution and graphics preset. The published target is 2160p with DLSS and RT Ultra, so a PC intended for a lower resolution or different settings is not being compared on identical terms.
- Check the rendering features. Note whether your planned setup uses DLSS or another supported upscaler, and whether Frame Generation is enabled. The developer’s Path Tracing performance target was measured with upscaling and Frame Generation enabled, so a native-resolution or Frame-Generation-off comparison does not match that target.
- Compare every component. Check your GPU, CPU, and memory against the target table, then compare the resolution, preset, upscaling, and Frame Generation settings. A mismatch in one part means your configuration differs from the published target; it does not by itself establish that Path Tracing cannot run.
- Treat an FPS estimate as uncertain. Without a benchmark for your exact hardware and settings, the target is not a reliable promise of your result. CD PROJEKT RED says frame rates can fluctuate by scene and vary with system configuration, graphics settings, and output resolution.
What the target does—and does not—tell you
The developer describes its expected FPS figures as based on QA tests, not a guarantee for every player’s system or every scene. Its support page also notes that higher output resolution significantly affects FPS. Consequently, matching the listed parts does not ensure a steady 60 FPS, and falling short of one listed part does not prove that lower settings or resolution will fail. The published information does not set a universal minimum configuration for Path Tracing across all possible setups.

Storage
The updated requirements say an SSD is required for the game. This is a general readiness requirement, not a separate indication that a particular GPU can run Path Tracing.
Windows 10
CD PROJEKT RED says the game may still run on Windows 10, but the studio no longer develops or tests on that operating system and cannot guarantee future compatibility or performance. That support caveat is distinct from the Path Tracing component target.
