Sign in to the Microsoft account where you redeemed the gift card, then visit account.microsoft.com/billing/payments. Microsoft displays your account balance there; the gift card’s value is added to your Microsoft account when redeemed.
Check your balance online
- Go to account.microsoft.com/billing/payments.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account where you redeemed the Xbox gift card.
- View the balance shown on the account page.
Microsoft identifies this page as the place to see your Microsoft account balance. The displayed amount is an account balance, not a separate remaining balance stored on the gift card.

Make sure you’re signed in to the right account
If you use multiple Microsoft accounts, check each account you might have used to redeem the card. Microsoft gift-card value is added to the account used for redemption and cannot be transferred to another Microsoft account or person.
If you haven’t redeemed the gift card yet
Redeem the code before looking for the funds in your balance. Microsoft’s gift-card and code guidance directs you to select Redeem code, sign in, and enter or paste the code. After redemption, the full associated value is added to that Microsoft account.

Can you check from an Xbox console?
Microsoft’s balance page links to an Xbox Support guide for checking the balance from a console. Use that guide for the current console-specific instructions rather than relying on remembered menu names: Xbox Support: Check your Microsoft account balance.

Balance rules and regional limits
- Microsoft says non-promotional account balance does not expire and there is no fee for keeping it. Promotional balance may expire under the terms of its promotion.
- Balance use depends on country or region and eligible products. Microsoft says balances can generally be used for eligible purchases from Microsoft Store online, Windows, or Xbox, but restrictions apply; for example, gift cards cannot be used to buy hardware in Taiwan.
- If a code was purchased incorrectly, contact the retailer. For account-balance or technical help, use Microsoft Support.
