Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesStart with the setting you want: Strikers 1945 is Psikyo’s aircraft-centered line, while Samurai Aces—called Sengoku Ace in Japan—uses a Japanese historical and fantasy setting. If you want a group of related games rather than one title, the two Psikyo Shooting Library collections make that choice straightforward: Vol. 1 centers on Strikers, and Vol. 2 on Samurai Aces and the Sengoku games.
Which Psikyo shooter should you play first?
Choose by theme first, then decide whether you want one game or a collection. The evidence available from Psikyo’s product pages establishes the games and editions, but not a reliable head-to-head ranking for difficulty, responsiveness, or port quality.
- Pick Strikers 1945 if you want aircraft combat. The original is a vertical-scrolling shooter that debuted in arcades in 1995, according to Psikyo’s 2020 Steam announcement.
- Pick Samurai Aces if you prefer Japanese historical and fantasy framing. It is the English-facing name for Sengoku Ace; related entries include Tengai (also named Sengoku Blade) and Sengoku Cannon.
- Choose a collection if you want several Psikyo shooters in one purchase. Vol. 1 is the Strikers-centered six-game set; Vol. 2 is the Samurai Aces/Sengoku-centered six-game set.
What is in Psikyo Shooting Library Vol. 1 and Vol. 2?
The Switch physical collections share the same six-game split as the documented PS4 physical collections. Their contents are the most useful comparison when choosing between the two series.
| Collection | Games included | Switch physical release | PS4 physical release |
|---|---|---|---|
| Psikyo Shooting Library Vol. 1 | Strikers 1945, Strikers 1945 II, Strikers 1999, Sol Divide, Dragon Blaze, Zero Gunner 2- | July 25, 2019 | June 30, 2022 |
| Psikyo Shooting Library Vol. 2 | Sengoku Ace (Samurai Aces), Sengoku Blade (Tengai), Sengoku Cannon, Gunbird, Gunbird 2, Gunbarich | August 29, 2019 | July 28, 2022 |
These dates are the physical release dates listed by Psikyo, not a claim about current stock. The publisher says the Switch cartridge editions contain the same content as the corresponding individual downloads. Its Switch library page also describes two-player play and vertical-screen play using display rotation options.

On PS4, Psikyo’s PS4 library page lists packaged Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, but says there is no download version of the library as a compilation; individual games are handled separately. Check the region, language, edition, and retailer stock before buying either physical set.
How do the individual Strikers 1945 editions differ?
Do not treat every store page called Strikers 1945 as the same release. Psikyo’s 2020 announcement described a Steam version based on the 2017 Switch version, with Score Attack, online rankings, Steam achievements, selectable aircraft, adjustable difficulty, screen orientation, lives, and continues. Those details apply to the version described in that announcement, not automatically to every later listing.
A separate current Steam listing identifies Zerodiv as developer and KMBOX as publisher, gives December 30, 2025 as its release date, lists local two-player simultaneous play, and includes the game in a 12-item Psikyo bundle. Compare the exact store edition and its listed features before purchasing; the KMBOX Steam listing is distinct from the older City Connection-era announcement.

Where does Samurai Aces fit in the larger catalog?
Samurai Aces is the first game in the Sengoku line, and the Japanese-title naming can make collections look different at first glance. Nintendo’s listing for Psikyo Shooting Stars Bravo presents the same six-game family as Vol. 2, using the English names Samurai Aces Episode I, Samurai Aces Episode II: Tengai, and Samurai Aces Episode III: Sengoku Cannon, alongside Gunbarich, Gunbird, and Gunbird 2. Nintendo describes vertical Tate mode for that collection.
That naming relationship is useful when searching store listings: a page using Sengoku Ace or Sengoku Blade may be referring to the games marketed in English as Samurai Aces and Tengai. The Nintendo listing for Psikyo Shooting Stars Bravo confirms its collection contents.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which platform and format should you choose?
- For a physical Switch collection: choose Vol. 1 for more Strikers and other aircraft-oriented Psikyo titles, or Vol. 2 for Samurai Aces, the Sengoku sequels, and the Gunbird games.
- For PS4: the physical libraries offer the same documented Vol. 1/Vol. 2 split. The library itself is not listed as a PS4 compilation download.
- For an individual digital game: check the exact platform storefront and region. Psikyo’s catalog includes individual downloads, but availability varies by regional store and edition.
- For vertical-screen play or two players: verify those features on the exact edition. The Switch library page describes rotation options and two-player play, while the individual Strikers listings describe features for their specific releases.
If you are shopping for a physical set, searching for “Psikyo Shooting Library Nintendo Switch” can help surface listings, but verify the volume, region, language, edition, and current availability. Historical publisher release pages document what was released, not what a retailer has in stock today.

What happened to Psikyo games on Steam?
Psikyo announced that sales of a group of older licensed titles on Steam would end October 31, 2025. The notice said existing owners would retain access to play and that sales on other platforms would continue. That notice does not establish the present availability of every Psikyo title: a separate Strikers 1945 Steam listing appeared with a December 30, 2025 release date. Check the live store page for the exact game and edition before relying on an older availability notice.
The end date and scope come from Psikyo’s Steam sales notice dated September 18, 2025; the newer listing is the KMBOX Steam page for Strikers 1945.
