There is no single graphics-and-FPS preset that works best on every phone. Start with the highest frame-rate option your game actually offers that stays stable during play, then raise graphics only while the game remains smooth and the phone stays comfortable. If heat or battery drain becomes a problem, lower graphics and/or FPS. Available options vary by device and game version; a high-refresh-rate screen alone does not guarantee a particular in-game FPS.
Choose settings by testing the options on your phone
Use the game’s own settings menu as the source of truth: note which FPS choices are available, rather than assuming your phone supports a particular rate. Compare each setup across four things: frame-rate stability, image clarity, heat and battery behavior, and what looks comfortable to you. No official source establishes one combination as best across both games, all devices, regions, and versions.
- Start with lower graphics and a high available FPS option. This is a practical starting point if responsiveness matters or your phone struggles with the default setup.
- Play a real match and assess stability. If motion remains smooth and the picture is too soft for your preference, raise graphics one step.
- Reassess after each change. Keep the higher graphics setting only if play remains stable and the phone is not uncomfortably hot.
- Reduce graphics and/or FPS if heat or battery use is unacceptable. This can help, though the battery effect varies with the device and environment.
Options missing from the game’s menu should not be treated as safely unlockable with third-party tools. FPS support can change over time and differ between devices.

Garena describes its graphics options as guidance for different device capabilities, not as benchmark results. In Garena’s graphics settings guide, the choices are described this way:

Free Fire requirements are not an FPS guarantee
Garena’s published requirements page distinguishes minimum requirements from its recommendations for good performance. For Android, it lists Android 4.4, a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM, and 1.5 GB or more storage as minimums; its good-performance recommendation is Android 7, an octa-core 1.8 GHz processor, 3 GB RAM, and 3 GB or more storage. For iOS, it lists iOS 9, iPhone 5s, 1 GB RAM, and 1.5 GB or more storage as minimums; its recommendation is iOS 11 or later, iPhone 7, 3 GB RAM, and 3 GB or more storage. These are Garena’s published requirements, not a promise of a particular FPS or identical behavior across current game variants. Garena notes that meeting minimum requirements may let the game work without letting it perform at its best.
For a crash after an update
For the specific case of a crash after a patch, Garena’s settings guide recommends Graphics: Smooth, High FPS: Normal, and Auto Scale: Off. Treat that as targeted crash troubleshooting, not a universal best preset. Garena’s OB52 patch notes also mention an “Experimental Frame Rate Boost” option in High FPS Mode, but do not establish availability for every phone or region; check the current in-game menu rather than assuming it will appear.

How to fix Free Fire lag
Garena’s lag troubleshooting guidance favors modest settings changes and ordinary device maintenance. Try lowering graphics somewhat, closing unnecessary background apps, and clearing temporary cache; restart the phone if those steps do not help. Garena cautions that apps claiming to fix lag or improve phone performance are mainly placebo or provide little help, so do not rely on a generic “lag-fixer” app.
PUBG Mobile: where to change graphics and FPS
In PUBG Mobile, open the lobby menu, then go to Settings > Screen. The PUBG Mobile Help Center says that choosing lower graphics, such as Smooth or Balance, and a lower FPS setting can reduce heat and battery consumption. Its guidance notes that battery use varies by device and environment. If you reduce FPS to manage heat, expect a possible trade-off in responsiveness; if the phone stays comfortable and motion is stable, you can test a higher available option.

Why old PUBG FPS claims need dates
FPS availability changes with releases and supported devices. PUBG Mobile’s September 2020 version 1.0 notes said most cellphone models could support 90 FPS; its July 2021 version 1.5 notes said 90 FPS in Smooth graphics was available for some new devices. These are statements about those releases, not a current compatibility list. They cannot establish which FPS option a particular phone has today, so use the choices shown in your current Screen settings.

If the game remains unstable on lower graphics and a conservative FPS option, the phone may not be able to deliver the experience you want. Garena’s recommended requirements can help frame whether a device is near its published good-performance level, but they do not identify a guaranteed FPS for a specific model. Before replacing a phone, check the current game menu and compatibility information for the exact device, region, and game build; a high-refresh-rate display by itself does not establish game support.
