On PS5, go to Games home > PlayStation Plus > Benefits > Monthly Games, choose a game, then select Download. Sony’s US instructions say Monthly Games are included with Essential, Extra, and Premium; you need an active membership to play a game you’ve claimed.
Claim a Monthly Game on PS5
- From the PS5 Games home screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Open the Benefits tab and select Monthly Games.
- Highlight the game you want and select Download.
Sony says new Monthly Games are added each calendar month and are available to download and play at no extra cost while your PlayStation Plus membership is active. See Sony’s Monthly Games support page for its current instructions and offerings.
Which PlayStation Plus membership includes Monthly Games?
Sony’s US membership comparison lists Monthly Games with all three plans. Extra and Premium include additional catalog benefits, but those are separate from claiming a Monthly Game.

Check Sony’s US plan comparison for the current benefit list. Monthly Games are not the same as the Game Catalog or Classics Catalog: catalog titles are separate benefits, and catalog games can leave the service.

Can you keep playing a game after claiming it?
Claiming a Monthly Game adds access to it through PlayStation Plus; it is not a permanent, membership-independent purchase. Sony says you can download and play a claimed game while your membership remains active. See Sony’s subscription support guidance for the membership condition.
Start the download remotely
You can also initiate a download to your PS5 from a web browser or the PlayStation App. Sony’s guidance covers remote downloads for selected PlayStation Plus games on PS5 or PS4.

- Use Sony’s PlayStation Store or PlayStation App while signed in to the account that uses PlayStation Plus.
- Select the game and choose the option to download it to your console.
- Make sure the PS5 is logged in to that account. Sony’s download guidance also describes automatic-download setup; if it is not configured, the download may begin when you next turn on the console.

If Monthly Games or Download is missing
- Confirm you are viewing PlayStation Plus > Benefits > Monthly Games, rather than the Game Catalog or Classics Catalog.
- Check that the account has an active PlayStation Plus membership. Sony’s US plan comparison lists Monthly Games for Essential, Extra, and Premium.
- If using a browser or the PlayStation App, verify that the console is logged in to the same account and review the remote-download setup.
- Menu labels, plan names, availability, and monthly selections may differ by region or change over time. Sony’s cited instructions are for the US; consult your local PlayStation support pages if your interface differs.
