On PS5, open PlayStation Plus from the Games home screen, go to Benefits > Monthly Games, select a title, then choose Download. On PS4, open PlayStation Plus from the function screen, choose Monthly Games, then select the title and choose Add to Library > Download. Sign in to the PlayStation account that has the active membership.
Claim a monthly game on PS5
- From the Games home screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Open Benefits, then select Monthly Games.
- Highlight the game you want and select Download.
Claim a monthly game on PS4
- From the function screen, scroll right and select PlayStation Plus.
- Scroll down and select Monthly Games.
- Highlight the game, choose Add to Library, then choose Download.

Download a monthly game remotely
Sony says you can start a monthly-game download from a web browser or the PlayStation App. For app downloads, link the console to the app. Sony’s remote-download guidance says the PS5 must be signed in with the relevant account, or the PS4 must be activated as that account’s primary PS4. If automatic downloads are enabled, the download can start immediately; otherwise it starts the next time the console is turned on. See Sony’s game and add-on download instructions.
After downloading, find the game in the console’s Game Library. For app downloads, Sony’s general instructions use Game Library > Purchased, select the game, then choose Download to Console. That is a download route, not the monthly-game claim step.

What membership and account do you need?
Sony lists monthly games as a benefit of PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium. Add the game using the account that holds the membership: Sony says PlayStation Plus is tied to the account. Claimed monthly games can be downloaded and played while that membership is active. These details are based on Sony’s U.S. service information and may vary by territory or change over time. Monthly Games are not the Game Catalog
Monthly Games are a separate benefit from the rotating Game Catalog and Classics Catalog. Sony lists monthly games with all three membership tiers; Extra adds Game Catalog access, while Premium adds Classics Catalog access and streaming benefits. Use the Monthly Games section to claim that month’s titles rather than looking for them in a catalog.

If a game is missing or will not download
- Check that you are signed in to the account with the PlayStation Plus membership.
- Use the Monthly Games section and follow the console-specific claim path above; on PS4, confirm that you selected Add to Library.
- For remote downloads, check that the app is linked to the console, or that your PS4 is activated as the primary PS4. On PS5, confirm it is signed in with the relevant account.
- If a remote download does not start immediately, it may begin the next time the console is turned on if automatic downloads are not enabled.
- For further download issues, use Sony’s download support. For purchased content, Sony also points users to transaction history.
