In Minecraft Bedrock Edition, clear a rectangular area with /fill. Enable cheats, choose two opposite corners, then run /fill <x1> <y1> <z1> <x2> <y2> <z2> air 0 destroy. To remove only one block type, use replace instead, such as /fill ~-10 ~-10 ~-10 ~10 ~10 ~10 air 0 replace water.
What the Bedrock command does
/fill changes every block inside a rectangular prism defined by two coordinate triplets. The first triplet is one corner and the second is the opposite corner; Minecraft fills the space between them along the X, Y and Z axes.

The documented Bedrock command requires cheats or commands to be enabled in the world.
Clear the entire selected area
- Enable cheats in the world settings, if they are not already enabled.
- Identify two opposite corners of the region you want to clear.
- Run the command, replacing each coordinate placeholder with the corner coordinates:
/fill <x1> <y1> <z1> <x2> <y2> <z2> air 0 destroy
For example, a region from (100, 60, 100) to (120, 70, 120) would use:

- Discover the community's creations in the new store
- Access new mini-games and game modes
- Play together on your sofa too thanks to the split screen
/fill 100 60 100 120 70 120 air 0 destroy
The air block replaces the selected blocks. The destroy mode clears the region destructively as the fill operation runs, so do not use it over a build you intend to preserve.
Remove only a particular block type
Use replace when you want to remove one named block while leaving other blocks untouched. The syntax is:

/fill <x1> <y1> <z1> <x2> <y2> <z2> air 0 replace <block>
The official Bedrock example removes water from a 21-by-21-by-21 area around the command executor:
/fill ~-10 ~-10 ~-10 ~10 ~10 ~10 air 0 replace water

Here, each tilde coordinate is relative to where the command runs. The range extends 10 blocks in both directions on each axis, with the executor at the center.
Choose the right fill mode
| Mode | Use it when | Effect |
|---|---|---|
destroy |
You want to clear every block in the selected region. | Replaces the selected region with air destructively. |
replace <block> |
You want to remove only a named block, such as water. | Changes matching blocks to air and leaves other block types in place. |
hollow, keep, or outline |
You are shaping rather than simply deleting a region. | Applies the alternate shaping behavior documented for the Bedrock /fill command. |
Coordinate tips before you run it
- Use two opposite corners, not two adjacent points along only one axis; all three coordinates in each triplet matter.
- Absolute coordinates look like
100 60 100. Relative coordinates use tildes, such as~ ~-1 ~, and are measured from the command’s execution position. - Start with a small test region if the area contains valuable builds, terrain, containers, or redstone. A fill command affects every block selected by its mode.
- If the command runs from a command block or another execution location, relative coordinates are calculated from that location rather than necessarily from your player position.
Bedrock and Java Edition are not interchangeable here
The syntax and examples above come from Microsoft’s stable Bedrock command reference, updated March 10, 2026. That reference does not establish that Java Edition uses identical argument ordering, block-state syntax, or operation limits. For Java Edition, verify the command against documentation for the specific Java version before pasting it into a world.
