Compare cloud GPU providers by the cost and completion time of your actual workload, the capacity you can secure in your required region and deadline, and performance measured on configurations that can run the same job. A GPU model name or hourly GPU price alone cannot identify a universal winner.
Start with the game-development workload you need to run
“Cloud GPU” can mean very different jobs in a game studio: training or serving a machine-learning model, rendering, or another GPU-accelerated task. The right comparison depends on the application and its settings, not just the provider’s accelerator list.
- Workload: Name the application or model, dataset, precision, batch size or other key settings, and the useful result you need, such as rendered frames or completed inference requests.
- Capacity: Record the number of GPUs and the memory each job needs, plus any host CPU, RAM, storage, network, or interconnect requirements.
- Constraints: Specify the region, deadline, data-residency requirements, budget, and whether the job can tolerate interruptions.
These details define what counts as a viable offer. If two configurations differ materially—for example, in GPU count, memory, or host setup—record the differences rather than treating their hourly rates as directly comparable.
Compare the full cost of completing the job
Estimate the bill for the whole run, not just the GPU line. Google Cloud states that GPU charges are added to machine-type costs, and its GPU price page excludes VM pricing, disks and images, networking, and sole-tenant nodes. The other components that apply depend on the provider and selected configuration, so check its current calculator or obtain a quote.

A practical estimate is:
Job cost = compute and host charges + storage and image charges + network or data-transfer charges + licensing, if applicable + startup or idle time + expected retry cost.
Use the same job duration and assumptions for every candidate. Include the time spent starting and configuring a machine if it is material to the run. For a workload that may be interrupted, account for any lost work and reruns rather than comparing only the discounted rate.

Keep pricing models separate
Build separate estimates for on-demand, spot, and committed or reserved capacity. These are different purchasing choices, not interchangeable prices: a discount may come with interruption risk or a commitment, and a reservation matters only if it covers the capacity and period you need. Google documents per-second billing for its GPU service overview, alongside spot and commitment mechanisms; check the current terms for the specific offer.
As a dated, provider-specific example, Google Cloud’s GPU pricing page listed a T4 at $0.35 per GPU-hour on demand and $0.22 and $0.16 per GPU-hour for one-year and three-year commitments, respectively, when accessed on October 3, 2026. These are GPU prices, not complete VM bills; rates and availability can change. Google also says spot discounts for most machine types and GPUs range from 60% to 91% off corresponding on-demand prices, with smaller discounts for local SSDs and A3 machine types. That is Google’s published statement, not a general estimate of savings across providers.

Verify you can get the GPUs where and when you need them
Availability has at least three layers: the provider lists the accelerator, the accelerator is offered in the required region or zone, and your account can actually provision the required quantity at the time you need it. A public catalog establishes the first layer, not the last.
- Check the exact configuration’s location. Confirm the GPU, machine family, region, and—where applicable—zone. Google warns that its listed GPU hardware is available only in specified zones; its location documentation lists region and zone support. Lambda says each instance is tied to a geographic region.
- Check account limits. Confirm your quota covers the required GPU count and machine type in that location. A listed product does not establish that your account has enough quota.
- Test provisioning or secure capacity. If the deadline is flexible, try a small provisioning test. For a deadline-sensitive run or multi-GPU cluster, seek a reservation or written confirmation for the required configuration and time window.
- Recheck near purchase. Availability and published prices can change. Repeat the check close to the run rather than relying on an earlier catalog review.
Measure performance on a representative job
Provider configuration pages describe hardware and instance options; they do not establish controlled performance across providers. “Fastest” depends on the workload, software, and settings. Compare completed useful work, elapsed time, and cost using the same measurement boundary.

Make the runs comparable
- Use the same workload, model or application, dataset, precision, batch size, and relevant software versions and settings.
- Match accelerator generation and GPU count where possible. Record GPU memory, host CPU and RAM, storage, network, and interconnect so configuration differences remain visible.
- Run enough repetitions to observe variation. Record setup time, throughput, wall-clock completion time, utilization, errors or retries, and total spend.
- Report both time and cost per useful unit of work—for example, completion time and cost for the same defined workload—not a peak rate detached from the job.
If a provider’s configuration cannot be matched to another’s, explain the trade-off rather than implying that a GPU model label makes them equivalent. Lambda’s documented instance options, for example, differ in GPU counts and memory; it also notes improved intra-server GPU bandwidth for select SXM-backed configurations. That specification is relevant when the application uses communication between GPUs, but it is not itself a cross-provider benchmark result.

| Provider | What the documented material establishes | What to verify for your decision |
|---|---|---|
| Google Cloud Compute Engine | Its GPU product page lists models including RTX PRO 6000, GB300, GB200, B200, H200, H100, L4, P100, P4, T4, V100, and A100; it describes up to eight GPUs per instance and per-second billing. Its pricing documentation lists GPU prices by region and describes on-demand, spot, sustained-use, and committed-use mechanisms. | Exact machine family and zone, quota and provisionable count, complete host and job cost, and current terms. The GPU location page was last updated September 30, 2026. |
| CoreWeave | Its official pricing page organizes offerings by region and lists GPU count, VRAM, host specifications, local storage, and on-demand or spot prices where available. Some entries say “Contact sales” or do not show a spot price. | Confirm the full configuration, region, current quote terms, and capacity. An absent public spot rate is not a zero price or evidence that capacity is immediately available. |
| Lambda On-Demand Cloud | Its overview documents Linux GPU-backed virtual machines tied to geographic regions. An instance table labeled “As of December 2025” includes B200, GH200, H100 SXM/PCIe, and earlier models with differing GPU counts and memory. | Verify current availability and price for the required region and configuration. The overview does not provide a complete, current price comparison. |
| AWS and Azure | No directly comparable current price or configuration evidence is established here. | Check each provider’s official calculator, GPU availability by location, instance configuration, and commercial terms for the same workload before adding it to the comparison. |
Turn the comparison into a shortlist
Use one row per configuration and pricing model; keep on-demand, spot, and commitment cases distinct. This compact worksheet makes assumptions and gaps visible:
| Field | Record |
|---|---|
| Job and completion target | Application or model, data, settings, useful work unit, target runtime or deadline |
| Configuration | GPU model and count, memory, host CPU/RAM, storage, network, interconnect |
| Location and capacity | Region/zone, quota checked, provisioning test or reservation, date checked |
| Price case | On-demand, spot, or committed/reserved; billing terms and interruption or commitment conditions |
| Full job estimate | Compute, host, storage, transfer, licensing, startup/idle time, retries |
| Measured result | Software and settings, repetitions, throughput, completion time, utilization, errors, total spend, cost per useful unit |
| Decision | Why this option fits the job, region, deadline, and risk tolerance; remaining uncertainty |
Choose conditionally: a lower measured cost may suit interruptible batch work; confirmed capacity may matter most for an urgent run; throughput may dominate when latency is critical. State the workload, configuration, geography, and check date behind the conclusion. Without those boundaries, the comparison cannot support a reliable general winner.
