In YouTube Studio, open Analytics → Revenue, select a date range, then compare Estimated ad revenue with Supers under How you make money. The Supers figure is not necessarily Super Chat alone: it can include Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks. Keep the date range and reporting scope the same for both figures.
Find the two revenue figures
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Analytics from the left menu.
- Open the Revenue tab.
- Choose the date range you want to compare.
- In the revenue-source breakdown under How you make money, compare Estimated ad revenue with Supers.
YouTube’s ad revenue analytics guidance defines Estimated ad revenue as revenue from ads on your videos. Use that ad-only figure—not the broader Estimated revenue total—when the question is how ads compare with Supers.
What the Studio labels mean
Estimated ad revenue
This is estimated revenue from ads on your videos. It is the relevant ad-only measure in this comparison.
Supers
Studio groups Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks under Supers revenue. Therefore, describe the displayed amount as Supers revenue unless a more detailed report actually isolates Super Chat. Calling the combined figure “Super Chat revenue” alone would overstate what the report identifies.

Estimated revenue
Estimated revenue is broader: it includes multiple revenue types, such as channel memberships, YouTube Premium revenue, and Super Chat. It is not interchangeable with Estimated ad revenue.
Make the comparison like-for-like
- Match dates: use the same start and end dates for both revenue sources.
- Match scope: compare channel figures with channel figures, or the same video’s figures with that video’s figures. YouTube Analytics supports revenue views at channel and video level.
- Use the correct category: compare Estimated ad revenue with Supers, not with total Estimated revenue.
- Label the Supers scope accurately: the Supers amount can include Super Chat, Super Stickers, and Super Thanks.
- Note estimate status: recent Studio figures are estimates and can change before earnings are finalized.
The result describes the revenue mix for that channel or video over that period. On its own, it does not show revenue per view, stability, profitability, or whether one source caused channel growth.

Do not substitute RPM or CPM for the totals
RPM and CPM answer different questions from a direct comparison of revenue totals:
- RPM is creator-focused revenue per thousand views after revenue share. It combines revenue sources, which can include ads, memberships, YouTube Premium, Super Chat, and Super Stickers.
- CPM is an advertiser-facing cost per thousand ad impressions before revenue share, covering ads and YouTube Premium.
Neither is a like-for-like substitute for the Estimated ad revenue and Supers totals. If you discuss rates, state which metric you mean and retain its distinct scope and denominator.

When Studio estimates change
YouTube says revenue can take two days to appear in Analytics. Estimated amounts may fluctuate because of invalid traffic, Content ID claims or disputes, and certain ad campaign types. Estimates may be adjusted after one week and again in the middle of the following month; finalized earnings appear in AdSense for YouTube and can differ from Studio estimates. See YouTube’s revenue reporting guidance for the timing and adjustment details.
For a recent period, treat the comparison as provisional. If you need a finalized earnings figure, use AdSense for YouTube rather than treating the current Studio estimate as final.
What the Supers figure means for creator earnings
YouTube’s help guidance says creators receive 70% of confirmed Supers revenue after local sales tax and iOS App Store fees are deducted. YouTube currently covers transaction costs, including credit card fees. This is platform guidance, not a guarantee of an individual creator’s final payment: applicable terms depend on the creator’s agreement and eligibility.
