Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Compare the individual livestream’s Estimated ad revenue with its Super Chat amount in YouTube Studio Analytics, using the same video and date range. Do not use RPM as a substitute: it blends revenue sources. And do not label the full Supers revenue total “Super Chat” unless the detailed breakdown shows that it contains only Super Chat.
Where to find the two figures
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Analytics > Revenue. YouTube identifies estimated revenue in Analytics and makes estimated ad revenue available in the revenue-sources report. Labels and available views can vary by report. YouTube’s ad revenue analytics guide explains the measures.
- Select the specific livestream or its replay. Keep both figures scoped to that video and use the same date range. YouTube Analytics is based on Video ID, so comparing different videos or mismatched periods will not answer what that livestream earned. YouTube’s live metrics guidance describes the Video ID scope.
- Find the ad-only number. Read Estimated ad revenue, rather than overall estimated revenue. For live-stream and replay ad breakdowns, YouTube’s live monetization guidance says to use the Live filter. If that view does not show revenue for the report you are using, switch to Live & on demand or another revenue-source report that provides the figure. YouTube’s live monetization guide covers the Live filter and live ad reporting.
- Find Super Chat specifically. Check the Supers or How you make money breakdown and read the Super Chat line when it is available. The aggregate Supers revenue may group Super Chat with Super Stickers and Super Thanks; it is not automatically a Super Chat-only total. See YouTube’s guidance for Super Chat and Super Stickers and checking revenue on Android.
Put the two values beside each other only after checking four things: each figure’s revenue definition, the same Video ID and dates, whether the estimates have had time to settle, and which reporting view produced them.
Use the right metric for each side
| Analytics label or metric | What it represents | How to use it here |
|---|---|---|
| Estimated ad revenue | Estimated earnings from ads on videos, reported separately in revenue sources. | Use this as the ad side of the comparison. |
| Super Chat | Revenue from viewers’ Super Chat purchases, shown as a component when the detailed breakdown exposes it. | Use the Super Chat-specific line, not a larger combined total. |
| Supers revenue | May include Super Chat, Super Stickers and Super Thanks. | Use only if you intend to compare the broader Supers category, and name it accurately. |
| Estimated revenue | Overall estimated revenue from multiple sources, including ads, YouTube Premium, memberships and Super Chat. | Not an ad-only figure. |
| RPM | A creator-focused revenue per 1,000 views that combines applicable revenue sources; it cannot isolate which source changed. | Do not use it to infer ad revenue or Super Chat earnings. |
| CPM or playback-based CPM | Advertiser-focused cost measures before the creator’s revenue share. | Do not compare these directly with Super Chat receipts or treat them as creator ad earnings. |
Views alone also cannot produce the ad figure: one playback may carry more than one ad, while many views carry no ad. YouTube distinguishes ad impressions from monetized playbacks in its analytics definitions.
Why one stream’s ad and Super Chat totals can differ
Ads depend on delivery, not just stream duration
Ad eligibility, monetization settings, available inventory, viewer circumstances and whether an ad slot actually serves all affect the result. YouTube explicitly says, “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.” Automatic mid-roll settings can also affect delivery: YouTube says automatic mode may pause ads for viewers sending Supers and snooze ads during high-engagement moments. These mechanics make a fixed ad amount per view or hour unreliable. YouTube’s live-stream monetization guidance describes the settings and caveats.

Super Chat is a viewer purchase, not an ad metric
Super Chat revenue depends on viewers choosing to purchase it, and eligibility for fan-funding features and the applicable Commerce Product Module matter. There is no universal Super Chat-to-ad-revenue ratio: the relationship is specific to the stream and creator account. YouTube’s monetization module guidance sets out the relevant agreement terms.
Revenue shares describe terms, not a prediction
YouTube says the Commerce Product Module pays creators 70% of net revenues from channel memberships, Super Chat, Super Stickers and Super Thanks; the Watch Page Monetization Module pays 55% of net revenues from ads displayed or streamed on public Watch Page videos. Those rates describe the module terms, not what an individual livestream will earn or which source will be larger. YouTube’s module documentation explains the distinction.

When the numbers may change
Recent Analytics values are estimates, not necessarily final settled amounts. YouTube says monthly estimated revenue may be adjusted after about one week and again in the middle of the following month. Reasons can include invalid traffic, Content ID claims or disputes, and certain campaign types. For a fair comparison, note when you took the snapshot; if the stream is recent, compare again after YouTube’s adjustment windows rather than presenting the first report as final. YouTube’s partner earnings overview explains these adjustments.
Troubleshooting missing or confusing revenue
- No ad breakdown under Live: The selected report may not expose revenue with a Live-only filter. Try Live & on demand or a revenue-source report that supports the metric; available filters depend on the report view. YouTube’s live metrics instructions describe this limitation.
- Supers is higher than expected for Super Chat: Check whether the combined total includes Super Stickers or Super Thanks. Use the Super Chat component if available; otherwise report the number as Supers, not Super Chat. YouTube’s revenue labels identify the grouped category.
- Estimated revenue does not match ad revenue: Estimated revenue combines several sources. Replace it with Estimated ad revenue for the ad side of this comparison.
- The total changed since the last check: Treat it as an estimate that may be adjusted; check the reporting date and revisit after the adjustment periods YouTube describes.
- Trying to calculate creator earnings from CPM or views: CPM is an advertiser-side measure, and views do not equal monetized playbacks or ad impressions. Use the reported Estimated ad revenue figure instead.
Or let it run in the cloud
If the livestream is a prerecorded video loop, StreamNeo can keep it running on YouTube without leaving a home computer online: upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The stream runs from the cloud, supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or its plans, then start the free first day.
