Chapter 3, “Descent,” takes you from an elevator through color-coded rooms and an arcade to a nursery finale. The elevator code is unique to your session, so solve its four clues rather than relying on a code from a guide. Later puzzle codes such as 5431, 7083, and 0743 are documented examples, not guaranteed answers for every room.
Escape the elevator
- Read the poster inside the elevator, which says to solve from top to bottom. Open the ceiling hatch and lower the ladder to climb onto the elevator roof.
- Inspect the symbols on the roof, then return inside and use the Pigpen notice to decode the first instruction.
- Count the shapes requested by that instruction for the first digit.
- Match the elevator’s light pattern to the Braille chart for the second digit.
- Compare the lower border with the Iguana Identification poster for the third digit.
- Look at the brighter floor squares and match their pattern to the Archery Practice target for the fourth digit. Enter the four digits to open the elevator.
The game explicitly warns, “Reminder: All elevators are equipped with unique codes.” Your clues—not a code from another player’s run—determine the answer. Dot Esports documents the elevator clue sequence and in-game reminder.
Search the connected rooms before entering codes
After leaving the elevator, check each accessible room for colored boxes, paint cans, posters, coins, and keys. These objects feed into later puzzles, so collect them as you go instead of leaving a room assuming it has nothing useful.
Paint-by-number room
Use the color legend to assign values, then count the remaining paint quantities in the order indicated by the misspelled-color poster. The Nerd Stash walkthrough records 5431 for its run; treat that as an example and follow the colors and quantities in your own session. Nerd Stash’s walkthrough shows its documented code and method.

Office and newspaper safe
Read the patterns and notes in the office/newspaper area and use them to derive the safe code. The Escapist and Nerd Stash report 7083 for their documented run. If your clues or room values point elsewhere, use those rather than assuming 7083 is universal. The Escapist’s Chapter 3 walkthrough and Nerd Stash’s walkthrough document that example.
Get the fourth key from the arcade
- Bring the coins you have collected to the working arcade cabinets and record the ticket amounts they produce.
- Inspect the “Pick Your Prizes” board. Its capitalized letters spell CHAINS.
- Enter CHAINS at the cash register to receive the fourth key.

Arrange the nursery blocks and find the final code
- Use all four keys to open the nursery door.
- Arrange the block towers to spell CLOUD, OCEAN, SPAC3, and PL4NT. The digits in SPAC3 and PL4NT are part of the displayed words.
- Note the order number assigned to each tower. Find the poster matching each word, then stand above its red-block design and read the digit the blocks form.
- Place each digit in the position specified by its tower’s order number, then enter the resulting code at the terminal above the nursery.
- Activate the green control to complete Chapter 3.
Published walkthroughs show 0743 as one nursery code, but the red-block shapes in your room are the evidence to follow if yours differ. Nerd Stash, The Escapist, and Dot Esports document walkthroughs of the chapter.

Mode and hint considerations
Players may choose between Standard and Beginner modes, play solo or cooperatively, and decide whether to use hints. The walkthrough sources do not establish a complete, authoritative comparison of those options, so exact timing, difficulty, or reward differences should not be assumed. The puzzle-solving sequence above focuses on the chapter clues themselves.
