To complete the first Advanced Trooper contract, Seeking Control, speak to Kara Valk in Arrakeen, investigate the book at The Sweep, defeat two heavy machine-gun enemies and loot their transmitters, then return to Kara. Seeking Control starts the advanced quest chain; it is not the entire Trooper training path.
Before you start
If Trooper is your character’s primary class, you can skip the basic Proving Grounds step and go directly to the advanced contract, according to Method’s September 13, 2026 guide. Otherwise, complete the basic Trooper training with Ghavouri at Griffin’s Reach Tradepost in South Hagga Basin first.

How to complete Seeking Control
- Find Kara Valk in Arrakeen. She is on the first-floor balcony overlooking the atrium, reached by going up the stairs. If the interior layout or your quest state differs, follow the in-game quest marker.
- Travel to The Sweep. The location is in Jabal Eifrit Al-janub, north of the boundary between East and West Vermillius. You can fly in from the east, or fast travel to the Anvil and head northwest.
- Go to the top floor of the main building. Interact with the book on the table to trigger the encounter.
- Defeat both heavy machine-gun enemies and loot them. They enter through the doors to the room. Collect a transmitter from each enemy; defeating them without looting both will leave the objective incomplete.
- Return to Kara in Arrakeen. Hand in the transmitters, then speak with her again to continue the quest chain.
Where Seeking Control fits in the Trooper quest chain
Seeking Control is the first advanced contract, not the final step. A game database listing updated September 24, 2026, for version 1.5.3.3 names the subsequent contracts as Regaining Control, A Shot at Improving, Master of Weapons, Surgical Strike, and The Cleansing of Kara Valk. See the gaming.tools Trooper quest listing for the sequence; it is a fan-maintained database rather than an official patch note.
What to expect from later contracts
A July 3, 2025 walkthrough says Regaining Control requires a Handheld Resource Scanner and lists a Radiation Suit and Ornithopter as useful for reaching and surviving later objectives. These are in-game items, not real-world purchases. Because that walkthrough predates the current quest listing, check the live quest markers for later objectives and requirements. Its named reward for the chain is the Mendex Rattle rifle; confirm that reward in-game, as the naming comes from the older guide.
#1 Best Overall
A September 2026 guide describes the chain’s completion rewards as a unique burst-shot rifle, the Trooper Archetype armor set, and an armor variant. The exact named rifle and later capstone details may vary with updates; the game’s current reward display is the best confirmation. See KeenGamer’s July 2025 walkthrough for its older chain notes.
