Shark Head is the preferred bait, but the Orca is a difficult catch and may take more than one migration.
How to catch an Orca during the migration
- Wait for the event announcement. Join a server and watch for “Orca Migration has begun!” The Fisch Wiki’s Orca page says the first migration starts one hour after a server is created; each following migration starts one hour after the previous one ends. Treat this as the page’s current schedule, since event mechanics can change with updates. Fisch Wiki: Orca
- Find the moving abundance. Fish in The Ocean, following the active Orca abundance as it moves along its route behind Moosewood. The Server Events page describes the route; do not rely on fishing at a fixed spot. Fisch Wiki: Server Events
- Equip Shark Head bait if you have it. The Orca page lists it as preferred bait, not a requirement.
- Keep fishing while the event is active. The migration lasts roughly 15 minutes, according to both wiki pages. A hooked Orca has erratic movement on the fishing bar and applies a -80% Progress Speed penalty, so be prepared for a challenging reel.
How rare is the Orca?
The Orca page lists a 1/111 catch chance, or 1/71 with Aurora Borealis. These are game-mechanics figures reported by the community-maintained wiki, not independently measured statistics; the page does not establish that a single migration will be enough to catch one.
What happens during an Ancient Orca Migration?
The Orca page describes a rare variant called an Ancient Orca Migration, also referred to there as an Albine Orca Migration, with a 5% chance. The page does not establish a different catch method for this variant, so follow the active abundance and fish in The Ocean as usual.
Can you get the Orca Egg?
The Fisch Wiki Eggs page says only the first player to reel in an Orca during a migration can obtain the Orca Egg. Catching an Orca does not guarantee that you will receive the egg if another player reels one in first. Fisch Wiki: Eggs

How many Orcas appear in a migration?
The wiki pages disagree: the Orca page says six Orcas, while the Server Events page says five and says the event ends when all five are caught or they reach their destination. Since the reported count conflicts, do not rely on a specific number when planning your attempt.
