Connect your accounts through the Epic Games website: sign in to the Epic Games account that contains your progress and purchases, open Account settings → Linked accounts, choose Xbox, and authorize the Microsoft account used on your Xbox console.
Important: Xbox means the Microsoft account or gamertag, not the physical console. Confirm that you have the correct Epic account before linking or unlinking anything. Removing the wrong Xbox account can make your Fortnite, Fall Guys, or Rocket League data unavailable on that console.
Before you start
- The Epic Games account that should hold your progression and purchases.
- The Microsoft/Xbox account and gamertag used on the console.
- A phone, tablet, or computer with a browser.
- Access to the Epic account’s email address for verification codes.
- The correct Xbox profile active on the console.
Epic recommends managing account connections from a computer or mobile browser. Your Xbox account must also be available to link; if it is already attached to another Epic account, resolve that conflict before proceeding.
How to link Epic Games to Xbox
- Open Epic Games and select Sign in.
- Sign in to the Epic account that contains the data you want to use on Xbox. Do not create a new account simply because it is easier to access.
- Open the account menu and select Account or Account settings.
- Open Linked accounts.
- Find the Xbox tile or row and select Link or Connect. The wording can vary with Epic’s interface, language, or account state.
- Sign in with the Microsoft account used on the Xbox console.
- Approve the authorization request and complete any verification prompts.
- Return to Linked accounts and confirm that Xbox is shown as connected.
- Launch Fortnite, Fall Guys, Rocket League, or the relevant Epic game on Xbox using the same Xbox profile.
Some games show a connection prompt the first time they are launched. Choose the option to sign in to or connect an existing Epic account, then use the account containing your data. Do not skip the connection or create a new account if you want existing progression. In-game prompts vary, so Epic’s website is the more reliable method.

How to confirm the connection
On Epic’s Linked accounts page, Xbox should appear as connected. Then check the game on Xbox while signed in to the intended gamertag. Confirm recognizable details such as your Epic display name, Fortnite locker, Fall Guys progression, or Rocket League inventory.
Linking does not guarantee that every currency, subscription, purchase, or platform entitlement works identically everywhere. Account-based progression and items follow the individual game’s rules; platform billing and some virtual currencies may have separate restrictions.
If you already played on Xbox
If you played an Epic game on Xbox before knowingly creating an Epic account, Epic may already have associated your Xbox account with an automatically created or unfamiliar Epic account.

Sign out of Epic, return to the sign-in page, and select the Xbox icon. Review the account opened through that login. Check its display name, linked accounts, and recognizable game information before creating or linking anything else. If it contains your progress, secure and complete that account rather than attaching the Xbox account to a new, empty Epic account.
If Xbox is linked to the wrong Epic account
Account linking is not account merging. It does not combine unrelated Epic accounts or automatically move all data between them. First identify which Epic account contains the desired progression.
- Sign in through the Xbox login option to discover the account currently associated with the Xbox profile.
- Check the Epic account’s linked accounts and game information.
- Do not unlink until you understand what access and data may be affected.
- If you have access to the wrong account, unlink Xbox there only after reviewing Epic’s warnings.
- Link Xbox to the intended Epic account, or follow the restriction-removal process if Epic blocks the connection.
- Contact Epic Player Support if you cannot identify the account or prove ownership.
Fix “another Xbox account was previously connected”
This message generally means that the Epic account previously had a different Xbox account attached. Epic treats it as a same-platform linking restriction; it does not necessarily mean that the current Xbox account is permanently unusable.

- Unlink the currently connected Xbox account, if it is still attached and you have access to it.
- Start Epic’s platform-linking restriction removal process.
- Select the relevant platform, request the email security code, and enter it.
- Remove the Xbox-platform restriction.
- Return to Linked accounts and connect the intended Xbox account.
Epic says this restriction-removal action can generally be used only once every 365 days for the platform. Avoid repeatedly unlinking and relinking accounts. If the restriction state is unclear, or you accidentally relink the same Xbox account after removing it, contact Epic Support.
What happens if you unlink Xbox?
Unlinking is a last resort. It does not delete the Epic account, but the unlinked Xbox account can lose access to that account’s progression and purchases. If you launch an Epic game afterward, Epic may automatically create a new, empty Epic account for the console profile, making your progress appear to have disappeared.

- Rocket League inventory and XP can be affected if the account holding that data is unlinked.
- Fortnite Crew benefits may be affected. Check where the subscription is billed and follow Epic’s cancellation guidance before unlinking.
- Do not assume that unlinking transfers data to another Epic account.
If you have already unlinked the account, close the game, verify the active Xbox profile, sign in to Epic using the Xbox icon, and inspect the linked-account relationship. Avoid further unlinking until you know where the data is stored.

Child and Cabined Accounts
A child’s Epic account may be a Cabined Account with account connections disabled. Parent or guardian consent may be required before Xbox linking and other features become available. Xbox family settings and Epic parental controls are separate layers, so changing only one may not resolve the issue.
The parent or guardian should complete the Epic account-setup or consent email rather than trying to bypass the restriction. Epic’s parental-controls guidance explains the available permissions.

Xbox is missing from Linked accounts
Sign out of Epic and retry in a private/incognito window. Use the Xbox icon on Epic’s sign-in page, check that you are in the intended account, and try another supported browser or device. A Cabined Account or other account restriction can also hide or disable connection features.

“This Xbox account is already linked”
The Xbox profile is probably connected to another Epic account. Sign in through the Xbox icon to locate that account. Unlink only after confirming which account contains the desired data. If you cannot access it, Epic Support may need to verify ownership.
Progress is missing
Close the game and confirm the active Xbox profile. Then inspect the Epic account opened through the Xbox login option and review Linked accounts. Common causes include using the wrong Epic account, linking to an empty account, launching under another Xbox profile, or unlinking the account that held the progression. Do not perform more unlinking until the account relationship is clear.
The verification email does not arrive
Check the Epic account email address, spam, junk, promotions, and filtered folders. Make sure you are checking the Epic email account rather than assuming the code goes to the Microsoft account email. Wait before requesting another code. If you no longer have access to the registered email, contact Epic Support.
