Yes—open the Quest browser, go to play.geforcenow.com, sign in with your Quest motion controllers, then use a compatible physical gamepad to play. NVIDIA’s Quest support is a browser-based 2D Cinema mode: it puts a conventional PC game on a large virtual screen, rather than turning it into a native VR game.
What you need
- A supported headset: NVIDIA lists Meta Quest 2, Quest Pro, Quest 3, and Quest 3S. Quest 1 is not listed as supported. See NVIDIA’s system requirements.
- Quest software: NVIDIA’s Quest setup instructions specify Meta Quest OS build 72 or later. This is the minimum stated there, not a claim that build 72 is the latest version.
- A physical gamepad: NVIDIA recommends an Xbox One or Xbox Series controller. Quest motion controllers navigate the service but do not control games during streaming.
- Wi-Fi: NVIDIA recommends 5 GHz Wi-Fi. For basic HD streaming at up to 60 FPS, its Quest-specific guidance calls for at least 15 Mbps download speed and latency below 80 ms to an NVIDIA data center; below 40 ms is preferable.
- A GeForce NOW account and access to a playable game: You can use available free access or a membership, subject to current regional terms. The service does not automatically grant ownership of every game.
How to connect Meta Quest to GeForce NOW
- Update the headset. Install a Quest OS update if the headset is below build 72.
- Pair a gamepad. Put the Xbox controller into Bluetooth pairing mode, then use the Quest device settings to open the controller or gamepad section and pair it. Quest menu labels can change; NVIDIA’s instructions do not specify a universal button sequence for every software release.
- Open the built-in Quest browser. The official setup is browser-based; you do not need to install a Quest Store app or sideload an APK.
- Go to play.geforcenow.com. Sign in to GeForce NOW using the Quest motion controllers for selecting controls and entering credentials.
- Choose a supported game and start the session. Use the physical gamepad for gameplay. The gamepad may not operate login, feedback, or some other service screens, so keep the Quest controllers available for navigation.

Which controllers work on Quest?
NVIDIA specifically identifies Microsoft Xbox One and Xbox Series controllers for Quest, and also lists Sony DualShock 4 among supported controllers in its broader guidance. For the simplest documented Quest setup, use an Xbox One or Xbox Series controller over Bluetooth. Other gamepads may work, but NVIDIA notes that some can require software updates or drivers; compatibility can vary by controller revision and game.

The two controller roles are different: Quest motion controllers operate the browser and GeForce NOW interface, while the paired physical gamepad supplies gameplay input. A white cursor or a gamepad that does not respond on the sign-in screen does not necessarily indicate a pairing fault.

What internet speed and latency do you need?
NVIDIA’s Quest support article gives these minimum download speeds for the stated stream targets. They are connection requirements, not guarantees of smooth play: Wi-Fi interference, distance from the router, congestion, location, and the route to NVIDIA’s data center can still affect the result.

NVIDIA requires latency below 80 ms to its data center and advises aiming below 40 ms where possible. Bandwidth is how much video data the connection can carry; latency is the delay between your input and the streamed response. A generic speed test can show plenty of bandwidth while missing a poor route or high latency to GeForce NOW, so use NVIDIA’s own network test in the service. The company also notes that location, device, public-internet conditions, bandwidth, and service demand can affect performance in its terms of use.

How to choose resolution and frame rate
Start at 1080p/60 FPS if your wireless connection varies. If the stream remains stable, try 1440p/60 FPS; use 1440p/90 FPS only with strong Wi-Fi and low latency. Treat 4K as a demanding option rather than a default Quest setting. NVIDIA says QHD options must be enabled manually in GeForce NOW streaming settings, and that 90 FPS support requires GeForce NOW version 2.0.83 or later; this is not a separate Quest app you need to install.
- Open GeForce NOW’s streaming settings.
- Select a custom streaming configuration and manually enable the QHD option you want.
- If needed, relaunch the stream after changing the setting.
- If video stutters, artifacts appear, or input response worsens, lower resolution or frame rate and test again.
NVIDIA lists up to QHD at 90 FPS and up to 4K at 90 FPS for immersive displays, but those are listed capabilities—not a promise for every Quest model, browser session, game, region, membership, or network. The supported service settings and actual stream depend on those conditions.

Do you need a subscription, and do you need to own the game?
GeForce NOW streams supported games associated with connected stores and services; it is distinct from buying a game or subscribing to a game library. NVIDIA lists integrations including Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, PC Game Pass, and Ubisoft Connect. A game must be supported by GeForce NOW and available through a connected account, subscription, or other eligible access. Some catalog entries use NVIDIA’s Install-to-Play feature, but that does not mean every PC game can be streamed. Check NVIDIA’s service overview and play and library-sync guide for current availability.
Free access and paid membership conditions—including queues, session limits, advertising, and features—can change by region and over time. Check NVIDIA’s membership details for current terms rather than assuming a plan includes a particular game or guarantees a particular Quest stream.

Is GeForce NOW on Quest native VR?
No. NVIDIA describes the Quest experience as 2D Cinema mode. The headset displays the regular game image on a large virtual screen; it does not add stereoscopic VR rendering, tracked motion controls for ordinary PC games, or six-degrees-of-freedom gameplay. A title must separately support VR to be a VR game, and this Quest browser experience does not convert standard GeForce NOW titles into one.

The GeForce NOW page will not load
- Check that the headset is one of NVIDIA’s listed models and that Quest OS is build 72 or later.
- Confirm the headset is connected to Wi-Fi; try 5 GHz if available.
- Close and reopen the browser, then enter the direct address manually.
- Check GeForce NOW service status.
- If the browser still fails, reduce open tabs or background headset activity and retry. These are practical checks; NVIDIA’s published instructions do not document every browser-specific failure.
The gamepad does not work during login
Use the Quest motion controllers to sign in, enter credentials, select interface controls, and operate feedback or other non-game screens. NVIDIA says the gamepad is not supported for every such screen; this behavior is expected.

The gamepad works in menus but not in a game
- Confirm a physical supported gamepad—not the Quest motion controllers—is connected.
- Check that it is not connected to another device, then reconnect it before launching the stream.
- Try an Xbox One or Xbox Series controller, NVIDIA’s clearest Quest recommendation. An unlisted controller may need a firmware or software update.
- Check whether the individual game supports gamepad input.
A white dot or gaze cursor appears
NVIDIA says gaze mode can appear when no other input is available—for example, if hand tracking is disabled and Quest controllers are disconnected, out of range, or have depleted batteries. Its current instructions give the path Meta Settings → Devices → Gamepad to disable gaze mode, and say a connected gamepad can enable the gaze cursor by pressing Start and Select at the same time. Quest menu labels may shift with software updates; look for the Gamepad setting if the path differs.
The stream is blurry, stutters, or responds slowly
- Run GeForce NOW’s own network test to check the connection to NVIDIA’s data centers.
- Use 5 GHz Wi-Fi, move closer to the router, and reduce other high-bandwidth activity on the network.
- Lower resolution or frame rate, then relaunch the stream if needed.
- Compare another supported game to determine whether the issue is limited to one title.
When to use a different route
The direct browser method is the simplest documented way to play on Quest and does not require a gaming PC. If you already run GeForce NOW on a computer, you can instead mirror that computer to the headset with Quest Link, Air Link, or a desktop-streaming tool. That adds a second streaming leg—from GeForce NOW to the computer, then from the computer to Quest—which can add latency and setup complexity; it is a workaround, not NVIDIA’s standard Quest procedure.
If you already subscribe to Game Pass, Xbox Cloud Gaming is another large-screen cloud-gaming option on select Quest headsets. It focuses on Xbox cloud-playable games and its subscription catalog, whereas GeForce NOW is oriented toward supported PC games connected through storefronts such as Steam, Epic, GOG, and Ubisoft Connect. Neither service provides every game, and catalog access varies by title, region, plan, and time.
