To run a cozy cabin-and-rain scene on YouTube around the clock, create a scene from visuals and audio you own or have permission to use, send it through an encoder such as OBS to a YouTube live stream, and plan separately for interruptions and archiving. 1. Build a cabin scene you have the rights to use
Start with a cabin image or animation that you created, or obtained under a license that covers both live streaming and archived distribution. Make the rain sound bed yourself or use audio with equally clear permissions. Keep source files, receipts, written permissions, and any confirmation that a rights owner has allowlisted your channel through Content ID together.
A static scene can suit a quiet ambience stream; subtle movement, such as rain against a window or a fire, is optional. Add motion or overlays only when they improve the scene rather than simply making a generic loop look different. Make the finished stream recognizably your work through its visual composition, sound design, and channel presentation.
2. Confirm YouTube live access and create the stream
YouTube’s encoder workflow is intended for streams that use overlays or external audio and video. Before setting up OBS, confirm your channel is verified and has not had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.

- Open YouTube Studio and go to Live Control Room.
- Create a new stream or schedule one. Choose the stream’s title, visibility, and other details there.
- In the stream settings, find the stream URL and stream key supplied by YouTube. Treat the key like a password: do not publish or share it.
- Keep Live Control Room open so you can check the incoming preview and stream status after connecting your encoder.
3. Set up the scene in OBS
OBS is free for any use, including commercial use, under the GPLv2 license, according to its Help portal. It is a practical encoder for a DIY setup, but its availability does not guarantee that a particular computer or connection can run continuously. Test on the machine and network you intend to use.
- In OBS, create a scene for the cabin ambience.
- Add the cabin image or video as a source. Add the rain audio as an audio source, then check that it plays cleanly and loops without an abrupt seam.
- Set the output resolution and frame rate to match the material and the experience you want. Use a stable bitrate appropriate to that output and your connection; YouTube’s stream settings and encoder guidance should be your reference for the chosen resolution and frame rate.
- In OBS’s stream settings, select YouTube if available, then enter the stream key from Live Control Room. If OBS asks for a server or stream URL, use the values YouTube provides.
- Check the OBS audio meters and monitor the outgoing preview in Live Control Room. Confirm the cabin image, rain level, and any overlays appear as intended before starting publicly.
The official material cited for this setup does not establish a single computer specification, bitrate, or required keyframe interval for a static ambience scene. Avoid treating one universal setting as guaranteed: match OBS output to the source and YouTube’s current guidance, and verify the actual feed before relying on it.

4. Test continuity before leaving it unattended
Run a private or unlisted stability check before committing to a continuous broadcast. Listen for loop seams, clipping, silence, or a volume level that overwhelms the scene; inspect the preview for missing sources, black frames, and overlays covering important details. This is a practical preflight, not a guarantee of uninterrupted operation.
- Watch the stream from another device or browser so you hear and see the viewer-facing output.
- Confirm the computer will not sleep, restart unexpectedly, or lose power during the planned run.
- Plan how you will notice a dropped connection and who can restart the encoder if you are away.
- For a local setup, keep in mind that the stream depends on the computer, encoder, power, and home internet remaining available.
5. Decide how you want to handle the archive
A 24/7 live broadcast does not guarantee a complete 24/7 YouTube archive. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived; a stream that exceeds 12 hours may not be captured at all. If preserving the full program matters, record locally and do not assume a single, endless broadcast will create a complete replay.

YouTube recommends keeping a local backup when an archive matters. An external drive can be used as optional storage, but no particular drive model or capacity is required by that recommendation. Another option is to plan shorter stream sessions around the archive limit, while recognizing that this changes the broadcast schedule.
6. Protect the stream from copyright interruptions
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. If it detects a match, it may replace the video with a placeholder, warn you, interrupt the stream, or terminate it if the material remains. Even when you have a license, a rights owner may need to add your channel to a Content ID allowlist for the stream to proceed without a match-related interruption.

YouTube’s livestream terms say creators represent and warrant that they have the necessary rights for live content on Google services worldwide, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Permission to use an asset in one context should not be assumed to cover live broadcasts and archived videos. Check the actual license scope before going live.

Copyright permission and YouTube Partner Program eligibility are separate questions. YouTube’s monetization policy applies to livestreams and expects content to be original and authentic; repetitive or mass-produced material may be ineligible. On July 15, 2025, YouTube renamed “repetitious content” to “inauthentic content” and clarified that the existing rule still covers repetitive or mass-produced content.

A loop is not an automatic monetization pass. A distinct original scene and audio treatment can make your creative contribution clearer, but no policy source guarantees that a cabin-and-rain format will qualify. YouTube reviews channels as a whole, so consider the originality of the channel’s other uploads and presentation as well.
