Before setting up OBS, make sure you have the rights to livestream every recording you plan to play. Owning a song file—or finding a song online—is not permission to rebroadcast it. Also check whether the rights holder must add your channel to a Content ID allowlist; YouTube says a live stream can be interrupted even when you have licensed the content if your channel is not allowlisted.
1. Clear the music rights before building the stream
Use recordings you own or have explicit permission to livestream on YouTube. The necessary rights can involve the recording, composition, publishing and public performance; permission for one does not necessarily cover the others. Do not assume all Haryanvi songs share the same owner or can be cleared through one provider.
YouTube’s livestream terms require creators to have the necessary rights for worldwide exploitation of live content on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. YouTube also scans live streams for third-party matches. Its copyright guidance warns: “If your channel isn’t added to their allowlist, your live stream can be interrupted even if you’ve licensed the third-party content.” Confirm both that your licence covers livestreaming and that the relevant rights holder has allowlisted your channel when required.
So, can you play songs on a YouTube live stream? Yes, if you have the necessary rights and meet any Content ID requirements. A personal subscription, a purchased download, credit in the description or a disclaimer is not a substitute for permission.

2. Make sure the channel can go live
Before scheduling your first broadcast, verify the YouTube channel and check its live-stream eligibility. You must be at least 16, and the channel must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. Initial live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours, so enable it well before your planned launch.
3. Create the broadcast in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and create or schedule a live stream. Set the title, description, visibility and schedule. Choose unlisted for a private technical test; use the intended public setting only when you are ready to launch.
- Select the encoder/streaming workflow and locate the server URL and stream key. Use RTMPS where offered for encrypted ingestion.
- Copy the server URL and stream key into OBS. Treat the key like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel. Do not publish it, show it on screen or share it in screenshots.
- Return to the Studio live control room and wait for the incoming OBS preview. Check stream health before starting the public broadcast.
4. Build the OBS scene and connect the encoder
In OBS, create a scene for the stream, add the authorized audio source and a still image or other visual you have permission to use, then configure streaming with the server URL and key from YouTube Studio. OBS labels and menu locations can vary by version, so use the current version’s streaming settings rather than relying on a version-specific path.

For a recurring music stream, make sure the audio source can play continuously and that the visual does not expose private information or unlicensed artwork. Do not capture or rebroadcast another YouTube upload as a shortcut. Confirm in OBS that audio is reaching the encoder and that the meters move without clipping.
5. Choose encoder settings that fit the connection
YouTube’s published encoder guidance supports H.264, H.265/HEVC and AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, up to 60 fps, constant bitrate (CBR), and a recommended two-second keyframe interval (no more than four seconds). Use a codec your OBS encoder and hardware support reliably; a newer or more complex codec is not automatically the better choice if the machine cannot encode it consistently.

These are YouTube recommendations, not a guarantee that a particular internet plan can sustain an unattended stream. Consult YouTube’s bitrate table for the exact codec, resolution and frame-rate combination you choose instead of treating one number as universal. For stereo audio, YouTube lists 128 Kbps and 44.1 kHz as recommended advanced settings.
YouTube recommends leaving 20% upload-bandwidth headroom. For example, an encoder configured at 8 Mbps needs more than 8 Mbps of reliable upload capacity; other household traffic and fluctuations also matter. If using primary and backup encoders, YouTube’s general advice is to account for both feeds plus 20% headroom. Do not assume a typical residential connection is suitable for a continuous broadcast without measuring and testing it.

6. Test privately, then launch and monitor
- Start an unlisted test stream and allow YouTube Studio to receive the OBS feed.
- Check the Studio preview and stream-health indicators. Listen from a separate device to confirm the music is audible, clean and in sync; confirm the visual is correct and the stream is not unintentionally silent or clipped.
- Check the watch page from another device or network, then verify the title, visibility and playback. Keep the test short and end it before switching to the planned broadcast.
- When ready, start the scheduled/public stream in YouTube Studio and keep monitoring both OBS and the Studio control room. Watch for dropped frames, network instability, unexpected silence and copyright notices.
7. Plan for 24/7 continuity and archives
A 24-hour broadcast is not just a longer OBS session. The computer, OBS, audio source, network and power all need to remain available, and a crash or connection failure can interrupt the feed. Plan who will notice alerts and restart the encoder, how the stream key will be protected, and how you will handle updates or scheduled maintenance.
Do not promise viewers a single uninterrupted 24-hour archive. YouTube’s encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; it does not establish automatic archive behavior for one continuous stream lasting 24 hours or longer. If you need dependable replay segments, plan deliberate shorter sessions and verify each archive in Studio rather than relying on a single nonstop VOD.
