To keep a meditation video live on YouTube around the clock, send YouTube a continuous feed from an encoder running on an always-on computer or from a cloud service that plays your prepared files. YouTube does not turn an uploaded video into a live broadcast on its own. First make sure your channel can stream, clear the rights to every audio and visual element, choose where playback will run, and test the broadcast before sharing it.
1. Check that your YouTube channel can go live
YouTube’s current live-streaming guidance says a channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days, and be operated by someone at least 16 years old. Requirements and Studio screens can change, so confirm eligibility in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room before preparing a launch.
YouTube supports encoder-based streaming. Its general encoder guidance mentions equipment such as microphones, preamps, and cameras, but those are options for productions that need them—not a required kit for a prerecorded meditation stream. You need a working live feed, not a camera pointed at a meditation scene.
2. Prepare the meditation video and clear its rights
Make a playlist or a single video with the meditation audio and a visual layer, such as a still image or animation. Before broadcasting, document that you own or have permission to use every track, image, animation, and video in the stream. Permission to use a track in one context does not automatically establish permission for continuous YouTube streaming.

YouTube for Artists advises creators using copyright-protected music during a live stream to coordinate with their label or distributor to avoid issues such as copyright strikes. Read the actual license for each asset and ask the rights holder for clarification if it does not clearly cover ongoing live use. Labels such as “instrumental” or “royalty-free” alone do not settle the rights question.
3. Choose where the live feed will run
| Consideration | Local encoder | Cloud looping service |
|---|---|---|
| What sends the feed | Encoder software on a computer that stays on and connected. | Provider infrastructure plays uploaded media and sends the feed to YouTube. |
| Computer and connection | The local machine, power, and internet connection must remain available; your connection carries the outgoing stream. | The provider describes playback as running without your personal computer online and without a continuous upload from your home connection. |
| Control and upkeep | You control encoder settings, files, and the local environment, but are responsible for maintenance, noticing failures, and restarting the stream. | Playlist management can be remote, but the workflow depends on the provider, its service availability, and its terms. |
| What to verify | Whether your machine and network can run unattended, how you will monitor interruptions, and how you will recover. | Current storage, stream-hour and simultaneous-stream limits, pricing, recovery behavior, and media-retention terms. |
The cloud column reflects the provider’s description of its workflow, not a comparative reliability test. A cloud service cannot eliminate every possible interruption: platform outages, invalid stream keys, or source-file problems can still stop a broadcast.

4. Set up a local encoder
- Enable live streaming and create the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room, confirm the channel is eligible, and create a live stream. Select the encoder workflow and retrieve the stream key and server information shown for that broadcast. YouTube’s interface may change; use the values displayed in your own Live Control Room.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your stream. Do not post it in a public playlist, video description, or chat. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Configure the encoder for your prepared media. Add the video or playlist as the source, set the YouTube server and stream key, and choose an output resolution and bitrate that your computer and connection can sustain. The available evidence does not establish a universal best encoder, bitrate, resolution, or upload speed for every meditation stream. Use the encoder’s supported settings and YouTube’s current guidance, then validate them in a private test rather than assuming a particular value fits all setups.
- Keep the whole system available. Start playback and the encoder, then leave the computer powered, the encoder running, and the internet connection active. Plan for operating-system updates, power loss, network interruptions, and software crashes; an unattended local setup needs a way for you to notice and address failures.
- Start the YouTube broadcast. Follow the Live Control Room’s prompts to receive and start the incoming encoder feed. Confirm that the preview shows the intended video and that audio is present before making the broadcast public.
5. Test, launch, and monitor the stream
YouTube for Artists recommends an unlisted test before the go-live date, particularly for a high-investment production. During the test, check picture and audio, track transitions, the loop boundary, and whether the stream reconnects after a brief interruption. These checks help expose problems before viewers encounter them; they do not guarantee uninterrupted operation.
- Listen for silence, clipping, abrupt volume changes, or gaps between meditation tracks.
- Check that the visual is intentional and that the playlist returns cleanly to its start.
- Confirm YouTube receives a stable feed and that the public watch page displays the expected stream.
- Know how you will detect a stopped broadcast and regain access to the encoder or service.
After launch, monitor the public broadcast and keep your account and stream-key details secure. YouTube’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service apply to live content, and YouTube reserves the right to restrict streaming for policy violations. Do not promise viewers nonstop availability.

6. Keep YouTube’s limits and monetization rules in view
YouTube Help currently states a maximum of 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key, applied simultaneously. This is mainly relevant if you plan multiple concurrent feeds; verify the current limit in YouTube Help before expanding.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API distinguishes a broadcast—the watchable YouTube event—from a stream, the audio-video transmission settings. Its example describes a 24/7 feed continuing while another broadcast is started and completed using the same stream. That API example explains a possible workflow; it does not mean every third-party interface offers the same controls.

Monetization features exist for eligible creators, but that does not establish that a particular channel or meditation stream qualifies. Check the current YouTube monetization and live-stream policies for your channel. Do not assume a 24/7 schedule guarantees monetization, watch hours, audience growth, or platform approval.

| Symptom | Possible cause | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube will not accept the stream | The channel is not eligible, the key is wrong, or the encoder is pointed at the wrong server. | Check channel eligibility in Live Control Room, then compare the encoder destination and key with the current values shown there. Reset an exposed or suspect key. |
| The live preview has no audio | The media source or encoder audio routing is missing, muted, or using an unexpected track. | Play the source locally, inspect the encoder’s selected audio source and mute state, and listen to the unlisted test on the YouTube watch page. |
| Playback stops at the end of a file | The encoder is not configured to repeat the source or advance through a playlist. | Check the media source’s loop or playlist behavior and observe a complete transition during an unlisted test. |
| The broadcast disconnects | A local power, computer, software, or internet interruption; a cloud service, YouTube, key, or source problem. | Identify which part stopped, restore power or connectivity if local, and confirm the key and source are valid. Do not assume automatic reconnection is available unless your chosen setup documents it. |
| Music triggers a rights issue | The license may not cover continuous live use, or a rights holder may have made a claim. | Review the asset’s license and contact the rights holder, label, or distributor for scope clarification. Remove or replace material you cannot verify you may broadcast. |
