Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →You can broadcast recorded classical music continuously on YouTube by clearing the rights to every recording and composition, then sending a playlist through an encoder or a cloud service. The rights check comes first: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, and a stream can be interrupted even when you believe you have permission. For a do-it-yourself setup, you also need a playback-and-encoding system that can keep running, a recovery plan, and a decision about whether you need YouTube to archive the broadcast.
Before you start: clear the music for this use
Make a track-by-track inventory before assembling the playlist. A recording of a classical work involves at least two distinct things to check: the sound recording and the underlying musical work. Depending on the recording, there may also be other included material or rightsholders. Confirm who controls each relevant right, that permission covers India and any other territories you intend to reach, and that it explicitly permits continuous YouTube livestreaming. If you want an archive, confirm that retaining an archived copy is covered too.
- Sound recording: identify the owner or authorized controller of the particular performance and recording. PPL India describes digital use of recorded music, including online streaming, within its licensing materials, but that does not establish that it represents every recording or grants every right you need.
- Musical and literary work: check the rights in the composition and any lyrics or other literary material. IPRS describes licensing for works in its repertoire and royalties to its author members; it is not a blanket license for every work or recording.
- Permission and platform handling: keep written evidence of the permitted use, territories, duration, archive rights, and any conditions. Ask the relevant owner whether your channel must be allowlisted for YouTube live use.
YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have the rights needed to exploit the live content, including music licensing rights. This is not a complete explanation of Indian licensing law. The Copyright Office’s material on section 31D describes notice and royalty procedures for broadcasting, but it does not settle whether or how that route applies to an individual creator’s YouTube livestream of prerecorded music. Do not assume that section 31D automatically covers your stream; get advice from a qualified India-specific copyright professional if the position is unclear.
Why a license may not prevent an interruption
YouTube says all live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content. If its systems identify a recording, YouTube may show a warning or placeholder, interrupt the stream, or terminate it. A Content ID claim may also be applied after an archived live stream ends. If a rightsholder has authorized your use, ask whether it can add your channel to its allowlist where applicable. Allowlisting is a platform-enforcement measure, not a replacement for permission.

Do not rely on Creator Music for a live broadcast
YouTube’s Creator Music guidance says its licensed and revenue-sharing tracks are for long-form videos, not livestreams or Shorts. The guidance also describes availability as limited to US creators in the YouTube Partner Program, with expansion beyond the US pending. It is not a licensing path for this India-based live stream.
Check that your channel can go live
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check eligibility before investing time in the broadcast setup. YouTube supports going live through an encoder; this is the route for feeding prerecorded playback as a live broadcast rather than simply uploading a video.

Build a do-it-yourself continuous-stream setup
For a local setup, a computer must play the cleared recordings and run an encoder that sends the resulting feed to YouTube. YouTube describes both encoding software and professional-grade hardware encoders as possible approaches, but does not specify a minimum computer configuration for an audio-led 24/7 broadcast. Select equipment against the settings and workload you choose, then test the whole chain rather than assuming a particular PC will stay stable indefinitely.
- Prepare the playlist. Use only recordings for which you have the necessary live-stream rights. Check that files play correctly from beginning to end, that the playlist order is intentional, and that the player can continue from the end back to the beginning if you want a loop. Confirm the playback software’s looping behavior before going live.
- Make the computer and network part of the design. The computer must remain powered on, keep the playlist and encoder running, and stay connected to the internet. Review the operating system’s sleep and restart behavior and the encoder’s recovery options. A power interruption, internet outage, software crash, or YouTube disconnect can stop the broadcast. A UPS may help with some power interruptions, but the capacity you need depends on your setup.
- Create the stream in YouTube Studio. Open the Live Control Room, create or schedule an encoder stream, and copy the server URL and stream key shown there. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not publish it, share it, or put it in a public recording or screenshot. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Configure the encoder and playback. Enter the server URL and stream key, select the playlist as the media source, and configure output settings supported by both your encoder and YouTube’s current instructions. The materials available for this article do not establish a single bitrate, resolution, frame rate, or keyframe interval for this audio-led use case. Follow the current settings YouTube presents for your encoder and intended output; do not copy arbitrary numbers from a different video workflow.
- Start the encoder before the broadcast is due. Send the feed, then check the Live Control Room preview and the viewer-facing watch page. Confirm that the expected audio is audible, playback advances, and the stream is not showing a warning or placeholder before treating the setup as ready.
- Test failure and recovery. Before relying on continuous operation, test what happens when the encoder closes, the connection drops, or the computer restarts. Confirm how you will notice an outage and restore the feed. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring streams, including checking failover where available; a test is not proof of uninterrupted future operation.
- Monitor the live broadcast. Check audio and video quality, encoder status, and the live watch page. Decide who will respond to an alert or interruption, especially if the playlist is intended to run unattended overnight.
Choose a sustainable video presentation
An audio-led stream still needs a video feed from the playback-and-encoding arrangement. Use visuals you have rights to use, such as an appropriate still or a visualizer you have created or licensed. Do not assume that a performance recording, album artwork, concert footage, or a third-party visual is cleared just because the music itself is licensed.

Plan the broadcast length around YouTube’s archive behavior
YouTube says encoder streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. The cited guidance does not promise the same automatic archive behavior for a stream longer than that. If retaining an archive matters, design broadcasts to remain under 12 hours and verify the current behavior in YouTube’s guidance before relying on it. This may mean ending and starting separate broadcasts; do not describe that plan as one uninterrupted archived stream. Check that each archive is available and usable after the broadcast.
If uninterrupted listening matters more than a single archive, decide in advance how you will handle stream restarts and any gap between broadcasts. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends advance setup, a preview check, testing, archive checks, and monitoring audio/video quality. Those practices are useful for a continuous playlist, but they do not guarantee 24/7 uptime.

Troubleshoot common failures
| What you see | Likely cause | What to check or do |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start an encoder stream | The channel is not verified or has a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. | Check the channel’s live eligibility in YouTube Studio and resolve the restriction or verification issue before scheduling the broadcast. |
| YouTube shows a placeholder, warning, or stops the stream | A third-party-content match may have been detected, including a recording you believed was licensed. | Check the Live Control Room and any rights-holder notice. Confirm the relevant permissions and ask the owner about channel allowlisting where applicable. Do not evade enforcement by swapping in another uncleared recording. |
| The stream key no longer connects | The key may have been changed, copied incorrectly, or exposed and replaced. | Copy the current key from the stream’s settings in YouTube Studio and update the encoder. Keep the key private. |
| The picture or audio is missing, frozen, or wrong | The media source, playlist playback, encoder output, or connection may not be operating as expected. | Check the encoder preview and YouTube preview separately; confirm the intended source is selected, the playlist advances, and the encoder is sending the configured output. Repeat the full test before restarting a long broadcast. |
| The local broadcast stops while unattended | A computer sleep or restart, software failure, power loss, or internet outage may have stopped playback or encoding. | Check power and sleep settings, network availability, restart behavior, and encoder recovery. Add monitoring and a clear response plan; test recovery rather than assuming the stream will resume automatically. |
| An archive is missing after a very long stream | YouTube’s cited automatic-archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, not longer streams. | For archive-dependent plans, keep each broadcast under 12 hours and check the archive after each one. |
