To run recorded physics experiments and lessons as a continuous YouTube Live feed, prepare a playlist of videos you have the rights to use, connect an encoder to YouTube Live with the server URL and stream key from Live Control Room, preview the feed, then start the broadcast. A 24/7 stream needs more than a playlist: plan for monitoring and recovery, and keep a separate archive. YouTube warns that a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all.
What a 24/7 lesson stream does—and does not do
A continuous stream plays existing recordings as a live broadcast. Viewers who arrive midstream see whatever lesson is playing at that moment; they are not necessarily starting at the beginning of a particular experiment. It can make lessons available throughout the day, but it is not a substitute for an organized on-demand library or a dependable copy of every lesson.
YouTube’s Live Streaming API describes a broadcast event and a separate stream resource that holds transmission settings. That distinction is useful in practice: the encoder sends a feed, while the broadcast is the YouTube event viewers watch. YouTube documents 24/7 broadcasting as a use case. Check that the channel can go live
YouTube’s current eligibility guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. It also says streamers must be at least 16; review YouTube’s current age-specific requirements and any account or regional restrictions before planning a broadcast. - Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Enable live streaming and use YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room to create or schedule the broadcast. YouTube may require first-time access to be enabled before you can go live, so allow time to complete the setup rather than leaving it until launch day.
Prepare the recorded lessons
Choose and sequence the videos
Build a playlist from recordings you own or are authorized to stream. Arrange it so a viewer joining at any point can make sense of what is playing: use clear lesson titles, brief introductions, and transitions that identify the experiment or topic. Consider mixing demonstrations with explanations and recaps rather than repeating one clip indefinitely.
- Check that each file plays from beginning to end and that audio is audible and synchronized.
- Review aspect ratio, picture orientation, and transitions between files so the stream does not unexpectedly show blank frames or abrupt silence.
- Add captions where available, and make lesson titles or on-screen labels understandable without relying on context from an earlier video.
- For demonstrations involving heat, electricity, projectiles, chemicals, pressure, or other hazards, describe the setup accurately and consult suitable lab-safety guidance. Do not improvise safety instructions.
Keep the source recordings
Retain original lesson files and, where practical, a separate local master. If viewers need to replay a particular experiment, publish it as an individual video or shorter recording as well as including it in the live playlist. A continuous feed is difficult to navigate like a lesson library, and its archive may be incomplete.

Connect an encoder and start the broadcast
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses the Live server URL and stream key shown for the stream in Live Control Room. The reviewed YouTube guidance does not establish one required encoder application, computer model, or hosting setup for prerecorded 24/7 playback. Choose an encoder that can play your playlist reliably and send its output to YouTube, then test the exact media sequence before launch. YouTube’s instructions for the encoder workflow are here: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
- Open YouTube Studio and Live Control Room. Create a new live stream or schedule one. Scheduling is useful if you want to preview the feed and promote a start time.
- Copy the stream credentials from YouTube. Use the Live server URL and stream key displayed for that stream. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or include it in lesson files, screenshots, or public messages.
- Configure the encoder. Select the playlist or playback source, enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key, and use settings appropriate to your chosen resolution, frame rate, and available upload bandwidth. YouTube’s requirements vary with the chosen output; consult its current encoder settings rather than relying on a universal bitrate figure.
- Send the feed and check the preview. Start transmission from the encoder, then confirm that Live Control Room receives the expected picture and sound. Check transitions and the opening and ending of files before going live.
- Start the broadcast in Live Control Room. For a scheduled stream, preview the incoming signal and start the event when it is ready. Confirm from a viewer-facing page that the public feed is playing.
Plan for continuity and recovery
A playlist that works once is not proof that it will run unattended for days. Test the whole sequence and the complete encoder-to-network chain before relying on it. If you play locally, the computer, playback software, source files, power, cooling, and internet connection all remain part of the production system. Decide who will notice a failed feed and what they should do to restart the encoder or broadcast. Keep recovery steps and access to the stream key available to authorized operators.
- Check the encoder’s playback and connection health during a test that includes file changes and playlist looping.
- Plan for power or network interruptions and software crashes; do not assume an automatic restart will work until you have tested it.
- Monitor the YouTube preview and the viewer-facing stream, especially after launch and after any change to the playlist or encoder.
- Keep the source recordings accessible so a damaged file or failed playback device does not strand the stream.
These are production-planning practices, not guarantees of uninterrupted service. No consumer computer, network connection, or hosting arrangement should be treated as infallible.

Protect the archive and understand the 12-hour limit
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. Its guidance recommends keeping a local archive. YouTube Help: Archive live streams
For a nominally 24/7 broadcast, do not count on YouTube’s live page to preserve every lesson or every hour. Record and retain the source lessons separately, and use shorter individual uploads for material viewers must be able to find and replay reliably. DVR can let viewers pause or rewind during a live stream, but availability and rewind range are limited on very long streams; verify current settings if viewers depend on that feature.

YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. If it detects material, it may replace the feed temporarily and can interrupt or terminate the stream. Even a license may not prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Check for music, images, clips, and other material in every lesson, and contact the rights holder about allowlisting where appropriate. YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams
Monetization is not automatic. YouTube’s channel monetization policies apply to live streams and require original, authentic content that offers viewers value; highly repetitive or mass-produced programming can be ineligible. A stream that simply loops identical material risks failing that standard, and YouTube determines eligibility through its review. YouTube Help: YouTube channel monetization policies
