To keep recorded Konkani church services live on YouTube, send the recordings through a streaming encoder: for a no-cost starting point, use OBS Studio on a computer, loop one recording or a playlist, and connect OBS to YouTube Live with your stream key. The computer, power, and internet must remain available for this local setup. First, confirm the channel can livestream and clear the rights for every recording; then test the broadcast before sharing it publicly.
What a continuous YouTube stream requires
An uploaded video is not itself a livestream. A software or hardware encoder sends video to YouTube Live, where viewers watch it as a live broadcast. YouTube describes an encoder as a tool that converts video into a digital format for streaming. YouTube’s encoder guide explains the official workflow.
For a basic church setup, OBS Studio can play a local recording repeatedly or cycle through several recordings. YouTube receives the encoder output, not the original file directly. In this arrangement, the computer, media files, power, and internet connection all need to stay available while the stream runs.
Prepare the channel and recordings
Check livestream eligibility
- Verify the YouTube channel and check that it has no live-streaming restriction from the preceding 90 days.
- Allow up to 24 hours for first-time livestream activation, as YouTube says activation can take that long. Do not schedule a public launch until the channel is ready.
- Run a private or unlisted test before announcing the stream. YouTube’s setup guidance is at Get started with live streaming.
Choose the broadcast and review each recording
- Decide whether viewers should see one service repeatedly or a playlist of different recordings.
- Choose Public, Unlisted, or Private visibility in Live Control Room. YouTube says visibility can be changed there.
- Check that speech and music are audible, the picture has the right aspect ratio, service details are legible, and there are no unintended blank openings or endings. These are practical production checks; review the actual recordings your church plans to use.
- Decide who will monitor Live Control Room and respond if the encoder or broadcast stops.
Set up a continuous stream with OBS
Loop one recorded service
- Install OBS Studio and place the service recording on the computer that will run the broadcast.
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene. Select the video file and enable Loop in the source settings.
- Check the preview, including the start and end of the recording, and confirm that its audio is present. OBS documents Media Sources and supported media formats at OBS Media Sources.
Cycle through several services
- Install VLC on the same computer; OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed.
- Add a VLC Video source in OBS, create or select an ordered playlist of recordings, and enable Loop Playlist.
- Review the playlist order and test the transition from one recording to the next. OBS’s Media Sources guide describes the VLC source and playlist controls: OBS Media Sources.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live and create a stream or select an existing one.
- In the encoder settings, choose YouTube if OBS offers that option, or copy the server URL and stream key shown by YouTube into OBS’s stream settings.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to the channel’s stream.
- Start streaming from OBS. Check that the preview appears in Live Control Room, then start the YouTube broadcast when the preview and audio are correct.
- Watch the stream after launch and confirm the playlist continues to advance or the single recording loops as intended.
Clear rights for the recordings before broadcasting
Check rights for both picture and sound before streaming or archiving a service. Permission for in-person worship or for making a local recording does not automatically establish permission for repeated online broadcasts, the intended territories, or an archived replay.

Review the service’s hymns, translations, arrangements, accompaniment tracks, photographs, and embedded recordings. Ask the relevant rights holders or the church’s licensing adviser whether the permissions cover continuous YouTube streaming and replay. The available information does not establish rights for any particular Konkani hymn, church, recording, country, or license.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content, including other broadcasts. A match can result in a placeholder, interruption, or termination. YouTube also says that licensed third-party content can still interrupt a live stream if the rights holder has not added the channel to its Content ID allowlist. If a stream is interrupted, check Studio for copyright or Community Guidelines restrictions; for licensed material, ask the rights holder about allowlisting. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.

Plan stream length and archives
YouTube says livestreams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not establish that a much longer, indefinitely running broadcast will be saved as one complete archive. Set a sensible stream duration, check the resulting archive in YouTube Studio, and verify its visibility. If the church needs a complete record, plan how to retain and publish the original recordings independently of the livestream archive.
Choose between a local computer, cloud service, or hardware
The right setup depends on who can monitor it, whether local equipment can stay online, and what playlist and recovery controls the church needs. YouTube’s verified-encoder guidance lists cloud and hardware options; the table distinguishes those approaches without assuming they have comparable prices or reliability.

| StreamNeo cloud service | You want uploaded recordings to loop to YouTube without leaving a church computer running. | One slot includes one always-on YouTube stream, looping and playlists, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and team support. Uploads stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot. See StreamNeo for service details. |
| OBS on a local computer | A church has a computer and a volunteer who can manage the broadcast. | No dedicated streaming appliance is needed, and OBS supports single-file and playlist looping. The computer, files, power, and internet must remain available; assign someone to monitor the stream and respond to interruptions. |
| Other cloud prerecorded-streaming service | You want the video encoded remotely rather than keeping a local computer on. | YouTube’s encoder guidance lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded streaming. Verify its current price, storage, playlist controls, access controls, reliability, and support directly; these details are not established here. |
| Dedicated hardware encoder | You need a dedicated appliance and scheduled prerecorded-media output. | YouTube lists AJA HELO Plus with PlayToStream for scheduled prerecorded media without a computer. Check current availability, fit, features, and price; dedicated hardware may be more than a basic looping setup requires. |
Costs to consider
For a local OBS setup, account for the computer and its electricity, a dependable internet connection, and volunteer time to monitor and recover the broadcast. For a cloud service or hardware encoder, check the current subscription or purchase cost and the specific playlist, storage, scheduling, and support terms. The YouTube guidance cited here does not provide comparable prices or uptime figures for these options.
