To make a seamless cartoon livestream, make the animation and audio at the end of your rendered clip lead naturally into its beginning, then enable looping in OBS. The loop control repeats the file; it cannot remove a visible jump or audio click already built into the file. For one video, use OBS’s Media Source and turn on Loop. For several clips, use a VLC Video source with Loop Playlist.
Make the animation loop cleanly before streaming
A playback setting repeats a rendered file when it finishes. Seamlessness depends on the boundary between the final moment and the opening moment: the picture, movement, music, and ambience should connect naturally when playback restarts.
- Plan the boundary in your animation project. Shape the ending so it leads into the opening, including any music or background sound. The exact editing steps depend on your animation software; OBS’s playback documentation does not prescribe an animation-authoring technique.
- Render a local video file. OBS Media Source supports common video formats including MP4 and WebM. See the OBS Media Sources documentation for source options and supported playback behavior.
- Review the rendered boundary. Play through the ending into the beginning and listen for a sudden change, silence, or click. Adjust the animation or audio in your editing project if the transition is abrupt, then render and check again.
Loop one cartoon video in OBS
- In OBS, add a Media Source to the scene containing the livestream.
- Select the rendered video file in the source’s properties.
- Enable Loop. The OBS Project describes this option as specifying whether the file plays again once playback has completed.
- Before broadcasting publicly, check the stream output through the end and restart. Confirm the picture and audio transition as intended and that the source continues playing.
Loop a playlist of cartoon clips
If the show is made from multiple files, use a VLC Video source and build its playlist. Enable Loop Playlist to repeat the sequence. This gives you a fixed clip order that cycles back to the beginning after the final item.
- VLC must be installed for the VLC Video source to appear in OBS.
- With 64-bit OBS, OBS notes that the VLC installation must also match its 64-bit architecture.
- Check each transition between files as well as the playlist’s final-to-first transition. A playlist loop repeats the sequence; it does not smooth an abrupt cut inside a clip or between clips.
For a single rendered file, Media Source is the simpler route. Choose the playlist route when you have multiple files to sequence, and check that VLC is installed and compatible with your OBS architecture.

Check rights and YouTube’s audience setting
Copyright and Content ID
YouTube scans livestreams for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material in another live broadcast. If it identifies a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder; if the content remains, the stream may be interrupted or terminated. A license does not necessarily prevent an interruption: the rights owner may need to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Review YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and resolve rights for the specific cartoon, music, territories, and license with the rights holder before broadcasting.
Made for kids
Set the livestream audience accurately in YouTube Live Control Room. Do not treat animation or cartoon format alone as a definitive answer: YouTube says creators should assess the content and intended audience, considering factors that can include subject matter, animated characters, themes, toys, and games. Made-for-kids designation limits features, including live chat and personalized advertising; other engagement features may also be affected, and details depend on whether the designation applies to the video or the whole channel. YouTube’s live-stream restrictions guidance also lists copyright strikes and matches to copyrighted live broadcasts among reasons a stream may be restricted.
Troubleshoot loop and livestream problems
