For a repeatable import, use the YouTube Data API: read the URLs from your CSV, extract each video ID, create a playlist, then add the IDs in the CSV’s order. You’ll need a Google Cloud project with the YouTube Data API enabled and an OAuth-authorized application.
Choose the right way to add your list
| Method | Best for | Trade-offs |
|---|---|---|
| Manual YouTube interface | A few videos | Simple, but each video must be added individually; YouTube Help does not document CSV upload. |
| YouTube Data API | Large lists or imports you’ll repeat | Requires coding, OAuth authorization, and quota; gives you control over order and error logging. |
| Third-party browser extension | People seeking a no-code bulk-import option | Some Chrome Web Store listings advertise CSV or URL imports, but listings do not establish safety, reliability, privacy practices, or YouTube endorsement. |
Prepare the CSV and extract video IDs
Keep an unchanged backup of the CSV before processing it. Identify which column contains the YouTube URLs; YouTube does not define a required CSV schema or header name for playlist imports.
Use a real CSV parser rather than splitting each line on commas. CSV fields may contain quoted commas, for example in a title column. For each row, extract the video ID from the URL, reject blank or malformed rows, and preserve the original row order. The API accepts a video ID, not a raw CSV row or URL.
Keep a row number alongside each extracted ID. That lets you match API errors to the corresponding source row and review or retry failures without losing the intended order.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Create the playlist with the YouTube Data API
- Set up API access. Create or select a Google Cloud project, enable the YouTube Data API, and configure an OAuth-authorized application. Playlist write requests require OAuth authorization; the documented scopes include
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtubeandhttps://www.googleapis.com/auth/youtube.force-ssl. - Create the playlist. Send a
POSTrequest tohttps://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/playlistsusingplaylists.insert. Provide a playlist title, and optionally a description and privacy status in the request body. Save the playlist ID returned by the API. Google’s method reference lists a cost of 50 quota units for each creation call. - Add each video in CSV order. For every valid ID, call
playlistItems.insertwith asnippetcontaining the playlist ID and a resource ID withkind: "youtube#video"and the video ID. The endpoint ishttps://www.googleapis.com/youtube/v3/playlistItems. The method reference lists a cost of 50 quota units per insertion. - Record results per row. Log the source row, video ID, and success or error response. Depending on your needs, continue after an error and report failures for review, or stop the import and resume after fixing the problem.
- Verify the playlist. Check the resulting playlist, its privacy setting, and the item order before sharing it. Keep the playlist ID and your row-level log for future corrections.
Quota planning
Google’s overview describes a default allocation of 10,000 units per day for most other YouTube Data API endpoints, subject to change. At the documented 50 units per playlist creation and 50 units per item insertion, a new playlist plus n items would use 50 + 50n units for these calls. Check the current quota for your project in Google Cloud before a large import; allocations and method details can change.
Common API failures
- Video ID is invalid or unavailable: the API may return
videoNotFound. Check the source URL and ID, and confirm that the video is accessible to the authorized account. - The video cannot be added to this playlist: an insertion may fail with
playlistItemsNotAccessible. Record the error against its CSV row and review that video rather than assuming the full import succeeded. - Authorization or quota problems: confirm the OAuth flow grants a documented scope and that the API is enabled for the intended project. If quota is exhausted, check the project console and resume when appropriate; do not discard the row log.
Use YouTube’s interface for a short list
- Open a video you want to include.
- Select More → Save → Create new playlist.
- Enter a name, choose the privacy setting, and create the playlist.
- For each remaining video, select Save and choose that playlist.
This is a manual process, not a CSV import. YouTube Help notes that some Made for Kids content cannot be added from the homepage, though it can be added from search results.

Consider a browser extension carefully
Chrome Web Store listings advertise extensions that claim to import CSV files or bulk URL lists into YouTube playlists. They may reduce coding work, but a listing is not proof that an extension is safe or dependable. Before installing or authorizing one, review its requested permissions, publisher identity, recent update history, and privacy disclosures. Check whether Google authorization uses the official flow, and avoid granting access you cannot justify.
