To queue podcast episodes for YouTube Live, put the recordings in an ordered playlist in OBS Studio, then schedule the live event in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. OBS plays and sends the episodes; YouTube creates the event and delivers the stream. There is no separate India-only queue procedure established by YouTube’s published guidance, so use the standard workflow and schedule in your local time zone.
What the queue does—and what it does not
The queue lives in your encoder, not in YouTube’s event scheduler. OBS Studio’s VLC Video source can play multiple files in sequence and loop the playlist; YouTube Studio schedules the event that viewers watch. VLC must be installed for OBS’s VLC Video source to work. See OBS’s media-source documentation and YouTube’s encoder setup and scheduling guidance.
This setup automates playback while OBS is running. It does not, by itself, guarantee that the show will continue through a computer crash, power loss, or dropped connection. Keep the episode files available on the computer, test the complete queue, and arrange for someone to monitor and intervene.
Check YouTube Live eligibility first
Before preparing an unattended or scheduled show, confirm the channel is eligible. YouTube’s general live-stream eligibility guidance says the channel must be verified, must not have had live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Check the intended channel rather than assuming another channel’s status applies.

Prepare the podcast episode queue in OBS
- Collect and order the recordings. Put the episode files in a dedicated local folder. Decide whether the broadcast should end after one pass or repeat the playlist. Confirm that each file’s format and encoding works in your setup; supported formats vary by source and file.
- Add the playlist source. In OBS, add a VLC Video source to the scene you plan to stream. Add the episode media in the desired order. Leave shuffle off for predictable playback. OBS documents that VLC Video supports playlists and looping; looping is on by default. If you use the ordinary Media Source instead, it can play and loop a single local file, not provide the same multi-file playlist.
- Check audio and transitions. Play through the queue locally and confirm the order, sound levels, and that each episode advances as expected. If the queue should stop after one pass, turn off looping and test the end behavior before the live event.
For details on the source options and their behavior, consult OBS’s documentation, dated 2022-01-11.
Connect OBS to a scheduled YouTube Live event
- Create or schedule the event. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and use its Manage area to schedule a stream. Set the intended date and time, checking that Studio shows the correct local time and date for your audience. A scheduled event can be shared and may offer viewers reminders.
- Enter the stream details in OBS. In Live Control Room, retrieve the stream URL and stream key, then enter them in OBS’s stream settings. The key authorizes YouTube to accept the encoder feed, so treat it like a password: do not share or publish it. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update OBS with the new key. See YouTube’s stream-settings guidance.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. YouTube recommends setting up the encoder at least 2 hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start. Check that the incoming preview shows the correct scene and that the audio is present. Make sure the correct event is selected and follow the Live Control Room flow before taking the stream live.
- Monitor during the broadcast. Watch and listen for audio or video problems, confirm the queue advances, and check that local archive files are growing if you are recording locally. YouTube’s live-streaming tips recommend monitoring the stream and checking preview, event accessibility, archive files, and audio/video quality.

Choose OBS scheduling or a recurring-broadcast API
For most podcast queues: OBS plus Studio
For a creator who needs an ordered set of local recordings to play, an OBS VLC Video playlist plus YouTube Studio scheduling is the direct approach. Studio handles the upcoming event; OBS remains responsible for playing and sending the episode media.
For programmatically managed recurring events: YouTube Live Streaming API
Google’s Live Streaming API guide describes binding one reusable liveStream resource to multiple scheduled liveBroadcast resources when an encoder uses the same streaming settings for a series. The channel can transition each broadcast to testing or live. This requires implementation and authorization; the API does not play local episode files or replace the encoder. For a simple episode queue, OBS and Studio involve less setup.

Rights, replays, and the 12-hour limit
Make sure you have permission to use every recording, music track, and clip in the live show. Also check the replay after the event: rights and visibility settings for an archive are separate practical considerations, and a live-use permission should not be assumed to cover replay.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. If you are relying on automatic archiving, keep the intended broadcast below that threshold and verify the resulting replay. YouTube’s statement does not promise automatic archiving for streams lasting longer than 12 hours; see its encoder guidance.

India-specific setup: what to account for
The published YouTube guidance cited here describes a general Studio-and-encoder workflow, not a special India-only queue configuration. It does not establish a country-specific internet-speed threshold or regional availability rule for this setup. Schedule using the time zone you intend, verify the date and time shown in Studio, and test on the same computer and connection you will use for the show.
Troubleshoot common queue problems
- OBS cannot add or play the VLC Video source: Check that VLC is installed, as OBS requires it for this source. Restart OBS after installing VLC if the source is not available, then test playback again.
- Episodes play in the wrong order: Review the playlist order in the source and turn shuffle off. Play through the sequence before going live.
- The playlist repeats when it should stop: Check the VLC Video source’s loop setting. OBS says looping is on by default; disable it for a one-pass queue and test the last episode.
- YouTube receives no encoder feed: Confirm OBS has the correct stream URL and current stream key for the selected event. If the key was exposed or reset, replace it in OBS. Check the incoming preview in Live Control Room before going live.
- Viewers cannot see the event at the expected time: Verify the scheduled date, time, event, and accessibility settings in Studio, and make sure the encoder is sending to that event. Check the preview and follow the Live Control Room go-live flow.
- The stream stops unexpectedly: A local OBS playlist does not guarantee recovery after a crash, power loss, or connection drop. Check the computer, power, connection, and encoder, then restore the stream through Live Control Room as appropriate. Keep a person available to respond.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want uploaded podcast recordings to keep looping without leaving a computer on at home, StreamNeo runs the YouTube stream from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
