Yes. Create two separate live streams in YouTube Studio—one for cartoons and one for bedtime stories—and send each its own content through an encoder. Each feed needs its own stream configuration and watch page; a single stream key does not create two distinct programmes. Before going live, check channel eligibility, set each stream’s audience accurately, clear the rights to every asset, and plan for YouTube’s archive and DVR limits on very long broadcasts.
What separate streams require
A cartoon channel feed and a bedtime-story feed can use the same general encoder workflow, but they should have separate stream details and watch pages. Viewers can then find the programme they want, and you can set the title, description, thumbnail, audience designation, and schedule for each stream independently.
YouTube’s encoder workflow uses a live stream’s server URL and stream key. If both feeds run simultaneously, configure your encoder setup to send the intended video and audio to each feed separately. Reusing one key does not create two editorially distinct live pages.
Check eligibility and prepare each stream
- Confirm channel eligibility. YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance.
- Create the cartoon stream. In YouTube Studio, open Go Live to enter Live Control Room and create a stream. Give it a specific title, description, and thumbnail that identify the cartoon programming.
- Create the bedtime-story stream separately. Repeat the process for the stories. Use details that describe the stories and their intended audience rather than copying the cartoon stream’s presentation wholesale.
- Set the audience for each stream. Choose Made for Kids or not Made for Kids based on the content and intended audience. YouTube’s factors include whether the content features child-oriented stories, songs, characters, or activities; animation or family-friendly presentation alone does not decide every case. Its guidance says, “If your video features actors, characters, activities, games, songs, stories, or other subject matter that reflect an intent to target children, it’s likely made for kids.” See YouTube’s guidance on determining whether content is Made for Kids and audience settings. Do not choose a different designation to retain features.
- Copy the stream details into your encoder. For each stream, enter the server URL and its corresponding stream key. Keep the two outputs mapped to their intended programmes. YouTube explains the setup in Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder and Manage live stream settings.
- Preview before going live. Start the encoder output, check each feed’s preview in Live Control Room, and verify the correct video and audio are reaching the correct watch page. YouTube recommends preparing encoders in advance, checking audio and video, monitoring streams, and testing backup-encoder failover where available. See YouTube’s live-streaming tips.
What Made for Kids changes
For a stream designated Made for Kids, YouTube disables or restricts features including live chat, comments, the notification bell, cards and end screens, and personalized advertising. Other engagement and commerce features are also restricted. Plan the format without chat-based participation or an assumption that personalized ads will appear. YouTube may override an audience setting if it believes the designation is incorrect or abusive.

Plan for the archive and DVR limits
YouTube says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours, YouTube can automatically archive it for you.” A stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all, and YouTube’s DVR guidance says rewind may be limited or unavailable for streams longer than 12 hours. These are reasons not to rely on a platform archive or rewind for a continuous overnight or all-day broadcast.
- If replay matters: make a local recording and maintain your own archive copy.
- If you need YouTube archives: consider planned shorter sessions instead of one uninterrupted stream exceeding 12 hours.
- If you need rewind: account for the stated 12-hour DVR caveat when deciding session length.
See YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR guidance. A 24/7 schedule is an operating goal, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service; check each watch page and stream status regularly and have a recovery plan.

Clear rights before broadcasting
You are responsible for having the rights needed to stream and archive the material, including music. Check the rights for the cartoon or adaptation, story text, illustrations, voice performances, background tracks, and any other included assets. A video being available online, or a story being old, does not by itself establish that you can use it. YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions place responsibility for necessary rights on the content provider.
Permission to broadcast does not guarantee monetization. YouTube applies its monetization policies to live streams: mass-produced or repetitive material may be considered “inauthentic content,” and reused content without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value may be ineligible. Original episodes and stories with meaningful creative contribution are a stronger editorial foundation, but approval and revenue are not assured. See YouTube channel monetization policies.

Choose an encoder approach for two feeds
YouTube supports software encoders and recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value events. The right approach depends on how much redundancy and monitoring you need, whether you must send two outputs at once, and your budget; YouTube does not make a dedicated hardware encoder a requirement.
| Approach | When it may fit | What to plan for |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | A setup where your computer can produce and send both intended feeds. | Configure each output separately, verify which content reaches which stream, and monitor the computer and connection. |
| Hardware encoder | A higher-production-value setup or one where dedicated encoding and operational redundancy matter. | Check simultaneous-output support, input and output formats, monitoring, reliability, and failover against your actual needs and budget. No particular model is established here. |
For either approach, test both feeds before relying on them unattended. YouTube’s recommendations on preparation, monitoring, and failover are in its live-streaming tips.

Troubleshoot common problems
- The two streams show the same programme: check the encoder’s output-to-stream mapping and confirm each output uses the intended stream configuration and key.
- A stream does not appear in Live Control Room: verify the channel’s eligibility, the stream’s server URL and key, and that the encoder is sending to the correct configuration. Recheck the preview before going live.
- Viewers cannot use chat or rewind: check the stream’s Made for Kids designation for chat restrictions; for a stream longer than 12 hours, YouTube says DVR rewind may be limited or unavailable.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: do not depend on automatic archiving for a stream over 12 hours. Make a local recording or plan shorter sessions if preserving a replay is important.
- The stream stops unexpectedly: check encoder and connection status, monitor the watch page, and use a tested recovery or backup-encoder plan. YouTube’s guidance recommends monitoring and testing failover rather than assuming a 24/7 feed cannot drop.
- A stream is not eligible for monetization: review rights and YouTube’s policies on repetitive, mass-produced, and reused content; having permission for assets does not itself guarantee monetization.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you prefer not to leave a computer and connection running at home, StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube stream live from uploaded videos. Upload the video or build a playlist, add the YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops the material from the cloud, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. It streams uploaded videos, not a live camera feed.
Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, looping and playlists, and support from the StreamNeo team. Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. For cartoons and bedtime stories, use a separate slot and stream key for each distinct feed you want to run; StreamNeo streams to YouTube only. Start the free day at StreamNeo registration.
