The overlay must get title information from a source that matches the stream’s actual playback order. A browser-source overlay for OBS is one documented approach; preview real Hindi titles and track changes before relying on it.
How the song name gets onto the stream
A changing song label needs to be part of the video being broadcast. Add a text or graphic overlay to the outgoing scene; YouTube’s own music information is separate and is not a configurable overlay guaranteed to update for every track in a live stream.
Use an OBS browser-source now-playing overlay
An OBS Project forum listing for a web-based current-song overlay describes support for YouTube and YouTube Music, and says it can use YouTube chapters or video-description playlists as title inputs. The listing was initially released April 12, 2024, and last updated September 18, 2025. See the OBS Project forum listing for its description.
The listing does not establish that the overlay can infer track names from arbitrary audio or keep itself synchronized when the playback order differs from its title source. Treat its inputs as schedule data: ensure the chapters or playlist match what the stream actually plays.

Set up and verify the display
- Choose the label. Decide whether it should show the official song title alone or the title and artist. Use credits supplied by the rights holder or another reliable metadata source rather than guessing.
- Check your title source. If you use YouTube chapters or a video-description playlist as input, compare them with the stream’s actual playback order, including any repeated sections, skipped tracks, or schedule changes.
- Add the overlay to the live scene. In OBS, add the now-playing display as a browser source in the scene that is actually sent to YouTube. Position it so that it is readable without obscuring important visuals.
- Preview Hindi text. Check a representative Devanagari title, the longest expected title and artist credit, contrast, font, line wrapping or scrolling, and whether the label changes at the right time. The cited listing does not document Hindi-glyph testing, so rendering in your intended setup is not established until you verify it yourself.
- Keep stream metadata separate. The changing on-screen label is not the same as the stream’s title or description. YouTube’s Content ID reference metadata guidance concerns eligible partner assets; it is not a general overlay setup requirement for ordinary creators.
Why YouTube’s Music section may not show the current song
YouTube says its “Music in this video” section can show music information such as song and artist names, but that information depends on identification and available metadata. It may be absent if YouTube lacks sufficient rights-holder data, has not identified the music, or has not yet populated information for a recent claim. It is not a dependable substitute for a deliberately configured live overlay. See YouTube Help: Music in this video.
If music is managed by a label, publisher, or collection society, ask whether accurate metadata has been supplied to YouTube. The help page identifies metadata such as ISRC, ISWC, UPC, and ISNI as relevant identifiers.

A visible song name does not grant music rights
Track credits and permission are separate issues. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; detection can result in a placeholder, warning, interruption, or termination. Even licensed third-party content may require the rights owner to add your channel to its allowlist. YouTube also notes that claims may affect archived streams. Read YouTube Help: Copyright issues with live streams and confirm that your specific use is authorized.

Troubleshoot a missing, wrong, or unreadable label
- No label appears: Confirm the browser source is in the scene sent to the live stream, and that the overlay’s title input is available and configured. A title source that does not match playback will not provide a reliable current label.
- The wrong song appears: Compare the overlay’s chapter or playlist data with the actual playback order. Correct the schedule or title data at its source.
- The label does not change: Check whether the input reflects the current track and whether the stream has moved to a different item than the metadata schedule. The cited listing does not establish automatic detection for arbitrary playback.
- Hindi characters are missing or broken: Test the actual title in the intended browser-source setup, then adjust the chosen font and layout and preview again. Hindi rendering is not confirmed by the overlay listing.
- YouTube’s Music section is absent: That section depends on YouTube’s identification and metadata; use a separately configured overlay if you need an on-screen label you control.
- The stream is interrupted: Check YouTube’s copyright notifications and resolve the rights or allowlisting issue with the relevant rights owner. Do not treat a visible credit as clearance.
