The official way to download the full version of Geometry Dash on a PC or Mac is through Steam. Install Steam, purchase Geometry Dash from the listing published by RobTop Games, then install it from your Steam Library.
Is Geometry Dash free on PC?
The full desktop version is a paid Steam game. The US Steam listing displayed a regular price of $4.99 when checked, but prices can vary by country, tax, and promotion. The checkout page is the final authority.
Do not confuse the full game with mobile spin-offs, browser copies, or websites advertising a “free Geometry Dash PC download.” Unofficial installers, ZIP files, APKs, cracks, and modified executables can contain malware, steal account credentials, damage saves, or prevent reliable updates.
A purchase on iOS or Android should not be assumed to provide a free Steam copy. The mobile and Steam editions are separate platform listings; check your Steam account rather than assuming that a mobile purchase transfers automatically.

Open the official Geometry Dash Steam listing.
What you need before installing
- A Windows PC or Mac that can run a currently supported Steam client.
- An internet connection.
- A free Steam account.
- A payment method for the game purchase.
- At least 100 MB of available storage according to the Steam listing, plus room for Steam and updates.
The game’s displayed minimum requirements are very old, so they should not be treated as a guarantee that a modern Steam client will run on every legacy computer. In particular, Steam’s client supports Windows 10 and later as of January 1, 2024.
How to download Geometry Dash through Steam
- Download Steam from the official website. Go to store.steampowered.com/about and download the Steam installer. Avoid third-party mirrors.
- Install and open Steam. Follow the setup prompts, then sign in or create a Steam account. Enable Steam Guard if Steam offers it, especially if you will use the account for purchases.
- Find the correct listing. Search Steam for Geometry Dash. Confirm that RobTop Games is shown as both developer and publisher. The Steam app ID is 322170, and the official listing includes the level editor and user-created levels.
- Buy the game. Select Add to Cart, complete checkout, and confirm that the game appears in your Library.
- Install it. Open Library, select Geometry Dash, and click Install. Choose a Steam library folder or accept the default location.
- Launch the game. When installation finishes, click Play. Steam’s button names and layout may change slightly with updates, but the process remains the same.
If Windows Defender or a firewall asks about the legitimate Steam or Geometry Dash process, allow it only if you installed the game through the official Steam listing. Do not approve an unknown executable from a separate download.

The Windows XP and Mac OS X 10.7 entries are legacy game-listing requirements. An old computer may meet those figures but still be unable to install or update the current Steam client. Outdated operating systems, graphics drivers, display scaling, overlays, and modifications can also cause problems.
Windows 10 and Windows 11 users should generally start with the normal Steam installation route, while Mac users should confirm that their Mac can run the currently available Steam client. The official listing does not establish a native Linux build. Proton, Wine, and Lutris are advanced compatibility-layer options, not guaranteed official support.
How to transfer Geometry Dash progress from mobile to PC
Your Steam account and Geometry Dash account are separate. To move progress from a phone or tablet, use Geometry Dash’s own cloud-save system:

- On the device containing your progress, open the game’s account or settings area.
- Sign in to the Geometry Dash account that contains the save and choose Save.
- Install and open Geometry Dash on the PC.
- Sign in to the same Geometry Dash account, then choose Load.
RobTop’s account FAQ says that loading merges save files rather than simply overwriting the existing save. Data cannot be transferred between different Geometry Dash accounts. Progress that was never uploaded with Save may not be recoverable, so save regularly before changing devices.

If cloud saving or login fails
- Check that the PC is connected to the internet.
- Confirm that you used the original Geometry Dash account, not merely the same Steam account.
- In the game’s account menu, use Account → More → Refresh Login.
- If you forgot the password, use the official Account Manager linked from the account settings.
- Check your spam folder if an activation or password-reset email does not arrive.
- Retry later if the service is having a server problem.
Cloud-save errors can also result from an oversized save file, connection trouble, or stale account credentials. RobTop warns that lost data generally cannot be recovered, which is why saving before switching devices is important.

- Restart Steam.
- Restart the PC or Mac.
- Check that Steam has finished downloading the game and any pending update.
- Check available storage and confirm that the installation drive is accessible.
- Verify the installation: in Steam, open Library, right-click Geometry Dash, choose Properties, select Installed Files, and click Verify integrity of game files.
- Update the operating system and graphics drivers where applicable.
- Disable nonessential overlays and launch modifications.
- Try starting the game without mods.
Do not download missing DLL files from random websites. A missing component usually indicates an incomplete, damaged, or modified installation; reinstall through Steam or use official Windows and Steam support channels instead.

Why are online levels not downloading?
This is different from an installation failure. If the game launches but user-created levels will not download, RobTop’s FAQ lists server problems, poor connectivity, automatic IP restrictions caused by high traffic, and a level that needs to be refreshed as possible causes.
Check your connection, wait and try again, and refresh or download the level again. If a downloaded level appears empty, exiting and using the game’s refresh function may help. See the RobTop level FAQ for the relevant troubleshooting guidance.
Can you download Geometry Dash without Steam?
For the normal official desktop installation, Steam is the route to use. Avoid cracked installers, APK files, browser-based copies claiming to be the full game, and “free download” sites. They do not provide the same trustworthy update and support path as the official Steam edition.
Android emulators are also not the preferred solution. They add compatibility, performance, input-timing, and account-management variables, and they often require obtaining an APK from an untrusted source. Use an emulator only for a specific Android-related need, not as the standard way to install the PC version.
